I know UDFA to the Saints, but what happened with the speed? I see he ran a 4.66 40, but there's game film from his entire LSU career blowing the top off the defense, and he toasted everyone, not just the weak teams.

I mean- caught bombs on everyone- Arky, Miss St, Wisconsin, Florida right off the top of my head. Averaged 17+ a catch. And over 10 on jet sweeps (and he ran a bunch, not just 1 or 2).

I know, nobody is as fast as we think, but Dural was clearly able to beat people deep, and the defense knew he was coming so it wasn't by surprise.

If he got hurt, what was it? Does he just not run a good dash? I'm missing something about the kid.

he tore his hamstring against Ole Miss in 2015

quote:

“When I jumped for the ball against Ole Miss, I kind of sat on the DB’s shoulder and he flipped me,” Dural said, according to Lopez. “When I hit the ground, my leg snapped back. My knee touched my shoulder. It tore my hamstring off the bone at the top. It was kind of three, four inches off from where it was supposed to be.”

doesn't appear he's fully recovered from the injury

He ripped his hamstring from the bone on a brandon Harris over throw. Hasn't been the same since.

Didn't realize it was so severe. That answers that.

Ok, thanks. That makes a little more sense, and I guess with Chark emerging, I assumed that he just was the preferred WR, not that Dural lost a step.

Yeah, no. Play action does help, but Dural got deep on people when they were expecting pass too. Wisky deep bomb from Jennings when we were behind; Florida down the right sideline late when we were behind; etc. And obviously Arkansas bomb to win. He wasn't 4.6 on those plays.

That was such an awkward looking fall when he got hurt against Ole Miss. I don't think I'd ever heard of someone ripping their hamstring on a play like that before Dural did it. I could believe if it has a minimum of 2 year full recovery (or never full recovery).

It's honestly a similar injury to what Ken Griffey Jr had and he never fully recovered

quote:

Griffey finished the 2004 season on the disabled list after suffering a rupture of his right hamstring in San Francisco.[31] The play in question occurred at AT&T Park in a game against the San Francisco Giants. Griffey was starting in right field for the first time in his 16-year Major League career when he raced toward the gap to try to cut off a ball before it got to the wall. He slid as he got to the ball, but in the process hyper-extended his right leg, tearing the hamstring completely off the bone. He later came out of the game, complaining of "tightness" in the hamstring exacerbated by chilly conditions in San Francisco.[32] However, there was far more to it than anyone realized at the time.

Shortly after this injury, the Reds' team physician, Timothy Kremchek, devised an experimental surgery dubbed "The Junior Operation"[33] that would use three titanium screws to reattach Griffey's hamstring. For several weeks, Griffey's right leg was in a sling that kept it at a 90-degree angle, and he was not able to move the leg until late October. After an intense rehabilitation period, he returned for the 2005 season.

It is not just running and catching. It is understanding defenses, adjusting, and catching the ball when it counts. Travin has a long way to go.

Brandon Harris ruined his career and cost him millions. Those damn inaccurate passes were bound to get someone hurt exposing the receiver for injury. Check out the pass on the play he got injured.
