He diffently had trouble with vision and knowing where he was. He usually is almost diving for balls in front of him. On the second deep ball, he veered to left, and ran for the ball. He didn't adjust his pace to make a play on the ball, on anther deep throw.

t’s almost universal to coach guys to let a kick go if it’s over head height at the 10 yard line, and that’s been coached since before I was a kid a long long time ago.

Maybe in high school and years past in college. Definitely not what is taught in power 5 conferences.

Doesn't make much sense. If you lay off the ball its not going to stay on the 5. I have never seen a ball just die on the 5. It's going to move at minimum a few yards either way. If it bounced to the 2 then tip your hat and accept the 3 yard loss.

More often its going to be a touchback or give you a few extra yards on the bounce to the 8 yard line or so. Catching on the 5 makes very little sense.

So its good enough for high school and the NFL but college is different in physics? Interesting....

And yall would be bitching about him not fielding it when they down it at 3.

I, and most knowledgable watchers of college football, wouldn't be complaining. Chark has made some good plays on punt returns, yet it's frustrating that he continues to make the same mistakes again and again: fielding punts inside the 10 (especially the 5); failing to field shorter punts, giving up yards when they take an unfavorable LSU roll.

defense is already standing there you catch it
That wasn't the case. Go watch the game. He was the deepest person on the field. Let the damn ball go.
Them he lets 40 yarders with 5 second hang-time bounce 15 yards because he won't go catch them.

Fast gunners. If you don’t field it the gunners catch it and stop it on the 1/2 yard line.

OK, dude, then at what point should he let it go over his head? Sounds like roughly the 2.5 yard line.

Why the hell does Chark fair catch it at the 5 yd line. Can't we let it bounce and take our chances at that point? Seems like 15 yards of upside and only 4 yards of downside.

Is that what ST coaches are paid $ for?

I agree and have said the same thing many times. To be fair, its not just Chark, I see it happening all over college football. Foolish if you ask me.

The gunners don't have to let the ball hit the ground. If they're already in his grill it ain't hard for one of em to step up and catch it or deflect it out of the end zone before it ever touches grass.

Catching the ball only creates the potential for a turnover. It’s plain stupid to catch it.

In 1959 the rule was that they should not field the ball inside the 15.

Very simple if the u stand on the 10 yard line & the ball goes over your head let it go! Fair catch it out side the ten yard line & don't lose yardage.Poor coaching! Well Billy Cannon against O'l Piss Didn't listen & run it back 95 yards for a touchdown.
