has to prove he's the better player though. I didn't see that last night.

Lemme get this straight. Chark (a guy that practices with Gage daily) says Gage is a bad arse and deserves to be in the game and the coaching staff (who happen to evaluate this kid daily) clearly think he is a bad arse that deserves to be in the game...

Yet, some how, you disagree...

Ok pal.

Dude was undersized physically when he first arrived to college, DB meeting room was already full of rangy, tall, fast, athletic guys but that didn't matter. The guy has the fire, that's why he was on the field! First guy down on kick coverage, might not make the tackle but he's sabotaging the return and pushing it in a specific direction. Not to mention, when is the last time you've seen a WR lay out for a ball like that. The dude is all heart, full of effort!
However, I suspect we targeted him so much as a deep threat so it would be on tape for the upcoming week. I think we'll see quite a rotation and week to week changes with the depth we have at WR. Especially if we are able to run 60-80 plays a game.

Hell yes!!

Him being on the field surprised the hell out of me too. But if the kid can play then I'm all for it. I always pull for the 3 star guys anyways. Claiborne, Hester, and Mathieu made me proud.

I guarantee u one thing... If he was in the lineup it's because he earned it one way or the other... Maybe he's balls to the wall all thr time and the coaches want to show everyone that strong effort will be rewarded. I was suprised and I know we all want to see Dee and Drake but obviously gave enough to warrant some PT. I bet we see more rotation of young guys at WR.

Etling had been taking 2nd team reps with Gage and Chark.
.
Etling comes off the bench and chark gets immediately involved. They had timing from working out together on 2nd team. Bring in Gage and maybe that expands. Maybe Etling stood up for him or the coaches like his work ethic and rewarded it.
.
Either way let the kid play.

You didn't get it straight at all. People are saying Les played "favorites" and used others over Gage but the idea the he should've been playing over others has to be backed up by more than just Chark saying he's a beast. Gage has to prove that Les was "wronging" him.

This program is loaded with talent. Guys are literally sitting on the bench waiting... When you recruit so much talent, I like to see a system in place where they all get an opportunity. We dont recruit guys who cant contribute.

The talent has to get snaps in practice and games. That is the only way the whole team gets better. CEO is using a diamond stone to sharpen the steel, he has replaced the hammer that was being used.

I don't necessarily think it was Les wronging him, we just didn't run anything with more than 1-2 wides much, and if we did, we needed 3 proven receivers because it was 3rd and long

According to Dupre's post game interview he said everyone except Gage knew he would get the start this week. Must have been a big deal the team and staff.

Did you notice also that Jazz Ferguson played ahead of Davis, Sullivan, Anderson and Dillon, and did catch a few passes?

Thought Dupre caught the ball much better, Gage showed speed and good down field blocking.

Yea maybe Gage blocks better than the other receivers. That could be the reason for the start

The receivers were going after the ball like I've not seen in a while. Before last night, on too many occasions the WRs seemed to wait on the ball to land in their lap. Way different attitude Saturday night.

According to Dellenger: quote:Russell Gage played in 3 gms in his first 2 yrs at #LSU, didnt play vs. UW & Saturday played on 40% (25) of Tigers' snaps first 3 quarters This was very interesting to me. How can someone go from not playing in hardly any games for 2 years, to being on the field 40% of the plays in one week? Not complaining, just genuinely perplexed by this. Anyone have more info on the situation or have an idea as to what happened?

I'm glad for him. And glad the coaching staff is looking for ways to get good players on the field and involved.

But this post is kind of confusing. It reads like UW was last week. Did play at all in the Miss. State, Jackson State and Auburn games?

Or Gage is inferior to others but is a favorite of O. Maybe O is stubborn. We just don't know, but at least we know you're an idiot who draws conclusions from thin air.

Could be a lot of the things already mentioned.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was a shake things up move as well.

A we're not going to just trot you out there just because you're supposedly more talented while our offense blows, we're going to require hard work and reward it too type of deal.
