The pre-snap movement screws with the defense. I read that Saban went to Canada to ask him why he did it before Canada worked at LSU, and Canada told Saban it catches the eye and can cause the defense to hesitate for a split second, giving the offense an advantage

The fact that Saban acknowledged it a good bit before the game and warned his team about the "eye candy" underscores that he felt it could cause trouble for them if they didn't make it a focus.

Canada's shifting and jet sweep stuff makes the defense hesitate which can make them vulnerable to a mistake or a missed tackle

this is the problem in a nutshell with a Steve Ensminger Offense over all. If LSU has a physical advantage the offense will work, but things being equal or we are over matched then there is very little in SE's offense that can make the defense Vulnerable besides great individual plays.

Hadn't heard this before, and now it makes me even more frustrated that we ran that guy off and replaced him with Ensminger.

exactly, he loathes showing weakness yet he acknowledged publicly that the "eye candy" could be problematic if they werent focused

How did Tua keep our offense from scoring?

Our game plan vs Bama was actually pretty solid last year, Etling just missed every wide open deep ball.

the real irony in all of this is had they resolved the personality disputes between MC and CEO, somehow still got Burrow to come to LSU and CEO left MC alone to run the offense, we actually had some of the pieces necessary to not only compete with BAMA but quite possibly beat them

with Burrow, MC could have run as close to the Clemson stuff or at the very least some of the tOSU stuff that CEO would allow. but nope

This and on top of that we don't even execute well.

Canada is a decent OC. Much better than what we have today.

Somehow Orgeron was pissed he ran so much pre snap motion. Like its not what his offense has done everywhere he's been. It almost makes him look like he hired him based on name and never saw film on his actual schemes.

it wasn't all Etling, there was one I think Chark misplayed or he scores a TD.

but yeah, we got behind em a good bit last year and just couldn't make the plays. definitely left some points on the field.

Which goes back to what people have been saying since yesterday that it's possible to scheme your way around a talent discrepancy.

The service academies still run option and are able to give more talented teams trouble. Mike Leach calls the wishbone one of the greatest offenses ever, and utilizes its concepts, only with the passing game. He doesn't win with 4 and 5 star talent. Gary Danielson compared Canada's offense last year to an "inverted triple option".

That "eye candy" can buy yourself extra time, no matter how brief, to try and execute what you want. Some will likely whine about it being "gimmicky", but lining up and running or throwing straight into the teeth of defenses with equal or more talent clearly hasn't been working for us.

WTF does Tua have to do with our offense? Our defense made him look human and gave our offense every shot on Saturday.

When your offense has 11 possessions, 9 ending in punts, 1 ending in a fumble, and 1 ending in a missed field goal, then yeah, the other team's QB is definitely the reason our offense stunk up our own stadium.

not in the scoring...but IN THE NEED TO SCORE MANY MORE POINTS.

yes, we scored "0", but the play calling gets affected.

...not passing the blame on to him, but he does affect the play calling.....many more points needed

Some of our biggest plays last year came from the wildcat, but we didn't see it one time on Saturday.

We held them to 16 in the first half without our best defender and with a putrid offense that did nothing. You couldn't ask for much more from the defense.

Not to mention we probably could've gotten into halftime only down 9-0 if we don't run a mind-numbing play-action on our own goal line, or keep snapping the ball with 25 seconds left on the play clock.
