What are we missing about Orgeron?

It appears that every single human who personally knows Ed Orgeron is absolutely gay for him. Players, coaches, media types, you name it. The CFB heavyweights singing his praises on social media right now are impressive to say the least. The thought of a career self centered a-hole like Lane Kiffin possibly leaving the gravy train to work for O speaks volumes. His players resume is freakish and his recruiting ability is legendary. As a position coach, he is considered the very best in the business. When handed the reigns at USC, he took a dumpster fire 3-2 program and finished the season in the top 20. At LSU, he took control of a team with zero offensive creativity and slaughtered school records with a washed up TEs coach on his way to a very respectable 5-2 record against the toughest schedule in the country, hands down.

So why is it this man has never been given an opportunity at so much as a DC gig post Ole Miss? Why would SC, who knew him better than anyone, let him walk after the 2013 season? Why would teams let this man sit at home unemployed in 2014? Why would a team like Syracuse decline to even give him an interview last year?

What are we missing about Orgeron?

Ask any USC fan if they didn't want him retained!

That this is his destiny and that destiny includes championships at LSU. Some of you have no vision.

If I'm being real, it's because he sounds like shite, like he is a dummy.
ETA I totally have an open mind and wish him the best. I'm excited about it.

That's partially because I'm an adult who isn't over invested in this shite like so many seem to be.

He's very good at being at the right place at the right time when the head coaches that he works for get run the frick off.

But ... there was that one time that he was the head coach .........

There has to be something behind the scenes that has hindered his career. Ole Miss was in bad shape when he took over and his recruiting classes laid the foundation for 9-4 2008 and 2009 teams lead by the world's greatest moron Houston Nutt.

Why has this man been radioactive as a HC prospect?

Guarantee you culture was a big part of why he didn't get the job after Kiffin at USC.

He did everything you could ask from an interim (but beat UCLA).

That's right. He can't have gotten worse, and it's highly likely he has gained wisdom and skills.

In all seriousness ... I agree.

This is why I say that he will never be elite.

I have no doubt that the man will work his arse off...it will not be enough.

Look ... this is not personal against O.

I hope that I am dead-wrong. I really do.

But, IMHO ... this hire just seems all wrong and made for all the wrong reasons.

Personally ... I think that DC is O's ceiling....on a year-to-year basis.

Because he is a rah rah guy.

He didn't come from any coaching pedigree, is not good with X's & O's.

Long story short, he has a limited skill set

He will be like the guy paddling his arse off, but with only one oar in the water. Going in circles.

Because the other schools couldn't understand what the heck he was saying during his interviews.

Coached under Jimmy Johnson and Pete Carroll. That's not bad pedigree.

Maybe pedigree isn't the right word.

Lack of development as a coach from within that pedigree is what I mean.

He was never asked to do anything besides coach the D line and get the guys fired up.
