I don't get to watch much of the games...most of my action is radio and Rant reading. What is the reality on Dugas? We know Nippolt is stronger at 2B defensively and has much more range. At what point is he the better option? I want Dugas to succeed, but this shoulder is affecting every point of his game. Additionally, Nippolt playing regularly would only help his defense and batting. Personally, I am not too keen on defensive subs late coming in cold.

Wouldn’t be mad if nipolt started next game. Dugas obviously isn’t 100

He needs to sit. He isn't adding any value at all right now, or for the last 4 weeks.

Nippolt looked shaky on that DP ball hit to him! Didn’t get rid of the ball quick enough and is still unproven at the plate. Dugas in major slump but he is a veteran. Need to ride him into Omaha

Would hate to see his career end on the bench but his shoulder has made him a liability offensively and defensively.

Looked like he reaggravated it after a swing against Tulane

Would have preferred to sit him the final 2-3 weeks of the reg season, rehab that shoulder to get it stronger, get some at-bats in the SECT, and have him close to 100% for the postseason.

At this point, I say keep him in the lineup.

You think? He’s barely played this year and came into one of the most stressful situations of the year

I would’ve been with you a month ago but he basically doesn’t do anything unless the ball is hit straight to him. No range, his bat is ice cold, and he generally looks like he’s about to shite when he’s in the batter’s box and can’t make contact or even draw a walk. If I’m Jay I’m playing Nippolt and hoping he finds his groove

"He's a veteran". CJJ has said several times, and most recently in tonite's post game presser, that in big games, and now in the playoffs, he relies on the team leaders & their maturity in big games. Did not mention Dugas specifically...he did mention Pearson as one he counts on for leadership & maturity...so obviously that's why certain players are getting playing time in big games.

I have a feeling t’s going to come out after the season that he has a torn labrum and will require surgery. He was too clutch before the injury and has been uneasy since.

He still gets on base a ton. Nippolt is really good on defense but gives you even less than dugas on offense so you kinda re stuck.

You got to do what’s best for the team.

What is Dugas' OBP, OPS, and BA since his injury? I am unsure about the comment of "gets on base a ton."

Hes been streaky during his career at lsu but I think he’s earned the right to be trusted. We’ve seen him be clutch before

I would stick with him. He's not healthy and he's struggling at the plate, but there isn't a better option at that position. Nippolt and Merrifield give them nothing at the plate.

His SEC only stats are:

27 GS/GP

95 ABs, 19 hits (.200 average, 5 doubles, 1 triple, 7 HR, 17 RBI)
20 walks, 18 HBP, 33 Ks
.425 OB%
1 sac fly

It's hard to gauge that with before/after his injury (I think it was the Kentucky series) without going game by game.

That OB% is still higher anyone on the team except for Crews and Pearson (minimum 50 ABs).
