Cal can go to sleep with purple and gold lenses.

No, really, the o looked completely flawless. Everything went according to plan. TD killing penalties, drive killing back to back illegal procedure penalties, missed FG, interceptions near the goal line. Defensive...lapses.

Everyone expects some teething problems, but likewise expect major improvement in game 2 against the husky huskies. No stupid penalties would be nice.

I heard from a friend of a friend's uncle who knows a guy that works in the athletic dept and said there was a fight in the locker room right before the game...

What do the people of the rant think?

The people of the rant think that anything less than a score of 50+ to zip is a bad showing.
The people of the rant feel that bubble screens and the short side option suck.
The people of the rant feel that ESPN hates LSU.
The people of the rant feel that Les plays his seniors at the expense of PT for more skilled underclassmen.
The people of the rant think the sky is falling.

508 yds of offense, 41 points, 73% completion % by our QB, 2 RBs over 100yds.

We didn't play poorly.

We were a little sloppy which is to be expected early in the year against a massively outmatched opponent. We had 2 TDs called back b/c of penalties, an int thrown at the 1yd line, and a missed FG. 24 points theoretically left on the field. We played about how I expected for the first game of the season against a team like N. Texas.

*SIGH*

If the question were about the team playing flawless football, then your points make sense.

The OP posted that this was a poorly played game and you posted multiple points without any other explanation

The logical conclusion for any reader is that you feel the same way as the OP and are giving your reasons.

There is a non trivial difference between playing poorly and not meeting very high expectations (the oregon/wvu passing gameplan).

So , no the O didn't look flawless but yes everything did go according to the plan (which was to win a season opener with a new QB/new secondary/new starters against a rent-a-win team).

If you are changing the argument from poorly to nit-picking then please do mention it for making it easier to comprehend your intentions.

Man just don't post anymore. Do us all a favor and get off of this board. Poorly? 1st game? 500 yards of offense. TD return for a touchdown? What game were you watching? 41-14?
