So this board is so divisive regarding the hiring of Orgeron, which in full disclosure I am not thrilled with the effort from our AD in hiring a HC and feel we settle for the path of least resistance. What do you feel are realistic expectations for LSU next year?

Looking at the schedule I honestly feel that a 10-2 season should very achievable. I could see losses to Bama and maybe UF since we play in the swamp. The only other game that concerns me is Tenn because it is in Knoxville. But other than those two maybe three games the others should be very achievable wins.

So if we don't go at least 10-2 next year to me it will be a disappointment.

Let's hope for more wins than losses next year.

10-2, 9-3....same as every year for LSU. Winning 8 is almost a certainty, 9 is 'average' 10 is good, not great and more than 10 is very successful, regardless of who the coach is and whether or not it includes a 'championship'... 11, 12, 13 or 14 wins amazing results in the league we play in.

No more than 2 losses will be acceptable given the schedule

I definitely agree, more than 2 losses should not be acceptable and in all honesty considering how LSU dominated UF this year even in the loss I almost think any loss other than our, recent annual losses to Bama, should be unacceptable.

Depends on the OC hire, but as of right now 8-4/9-3 seems realistic

even with an average QB next year it will be tough for us to win a lot of games. 7 tough SEC games in a row. I think the only way LSU gets to 10+ wins next year is with extremely good QB play

The defensive losses will hurt us next year, so 8-4 is a possibility. However 10-2 is possible as well. Everyone is so focused on offense but that's where most of our talent is coming back.

ost of the folks who post on this thread are lowering the bar for coach O......the same bar we used to fire Les. Very transparent.

I expect 8-4. Some big losses on both sides of the ball - and some of whats coming back is our weak link.

And I'm pretty tired of people still having 10 wins seasons as some sort of big deal. LSU should be able to go 5-3 in the SEC most years (and 5-0 out of conference including the bowl) in order to win 10 games as a normal course of action. 10 wins should be a baseline - not bad - type of year. It shouldn't be something we're happy about.

How so? Where are there more that two definite losses on the schedule?

Bama away will obviously be tough. Other than that, LSU has Florida, Miss. St., Ole Miss and Tenn. You wouldn't expect any of those games to necessarily be easy, but it's hard to say even with LSU's losses that UF, Miss. St., Ole Miss and Tenn. are MORE talented overall than LSU.

Tenn is losing a ton of playmakers from this years team
Ole Miss is going to have to replace arguablly the best QB in the SEC, and with sanctions looming, who knows where they will be
Florida's D should be good again, but who is their QB? Del Rio who has never been any good? Or Franks who has yet to play a game?
Is MSU a serious threat?

LSU is going to return at least one Sr. QB and the bulk of their offense. Poccic may the the only "irreplaceable" piece (Guice has show he can put up the same numbers as Fournette).

LSU loses more on defense, but should be the strongest they've been at D-line in quite a while. Even if the D takes a step back, it's hard to imagine it being a significant step back with Aranda as the DC.

8 wins is what I expect under O. It was 10 under Miles.

I root for O to do well as doing so is good for LSU, but think objectively that his hire is a serious error that will ultimately set the program back further. I will be shocked if we do not walk off into the 90's college football abyss under his leadership.

Projection: 6-6

Wins - BYU, Chattanooga, Troy, State, Ole Miss and Syracuse

Losses - Auburn, Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, A &M and Arkansas

Perhaps 7-5 if we can drum A&M again. My pessimism on the hire may be clouding my reason.

We fired a coach who averaged 10 wins a season for 11 yrs. Now, 10 wins is an unrealistic expectation with a SR. QB, a outstanding RB, and a DC we paying almost 2 mil to keep? Haven't we been told continually that we have to best talent in the SEC outside of Bama and all we needed to excel is a new coach and a whiz at OC? So, what's the big deal getting 10 wins?

Those goal post, they are moving!
