so you agree that NO adjustments were made?

Because every other coach besides Mainieri has teams that can hit for power and play small ball, right?

Pick one side, chief.

We are not a power hitting club. We play in a homerun friendly ball park. That doesn't translate to power in big parks...see Hoover and Omaha.

Put runners in motion w/ hit and run (not in the 9th vs UCLA)

We did this multiple times yesterday. Maybe you weren't watching. I dont know how often you think runners should be put in motion, but we definitely did it multiple times yesterday and in the ninth inning against UCLA (which was still the right call)

quote:

tell the hitters to work the counts and get the pitcher to bring the ball down in the zone. (may have told them this though)

How can you even put something on your list that you have no idea whether this was said or not?

Adjusted the lineup. Sometimes that will get some guys out of a slump.

You don't just "adjust" the lineup that you have had all year that has made you one of the top producing offenses in the nation because you have one off night.

I agree with the OP. People keep coming out of the woodwork to comment how we didn't make all these "adjustments". There weren't any "adjustments" that needed to be made. We just lost two baseball games. It sucks, but it is what it is.

Power hitting wasn't the right choice of words, my bad, but we were definitely a solid base hit/extra base hit lineup. Just had a bunch of guys slump at the wrong time. You really think Bregman/Rhymes/Ibarra going 0-for-Omaha is Mainieri's fault?

Also, are you seriously insinuating that we should be a smallball club??? May I direct you to 2011 where Tyler Hanover started out as our clean up hitter and also led the team in sac bunts.

The best adjustment may have been to remove the sand out of everyone's Vay jay jay so that they would compete like they had all season long. Baseball....it's so dang frustrating sometimes..........just....can't.....get it.......done

How terrible they are at bunting

That is something that should never be the case at a program like LSU. Especially when you KNOW it will be pivotal in Omaha.

Ah, so you think bunting yesterday was the key to winning?

our offense was great in hoover? 3 guys in the middle of the order struggled the entire post season....but go on believing that it was just one game and only in Omaha.

So who had a good offense in Hoover, then?

the answer is, he should have made an adjustment at hitting coach I say at least three years ago. we simply can't hit

I'm not a Javi fan and I think we could do way better at hitting coach. I think Blake Dean has been great for our hitting this year. But to say we can't hit is just stupid. We had the highest average of the 8 teams in the CWS. We were 2nd in the SEC in hitting and 15th in the country. This team could hit. They just did not hit well in Omaha.

I said it in another thread....the word "adjustment" is the Rantard word for "I am too dumb to figure out what is going on, but I need to bitch, so I will use the word "adjustment"". It is such a cliche' word. It is typically a football season bitch term...

"The offense just isn't making adjustments". Nobody knows what it means...they just kinda say it.

I have never said this.

Nope. It was painfully obvious after Ibarras 2 bombs that were caught on the track that swinging at elevated pitches was not a good hitting strategy. Harder to hit line drives because you have to get on top of the ball to do so. make the pitcher bring the ball down in the zone and hit more line drives/ground balls instead of fly outs and pop ups. This is the type of adjustment that can be made in a game.
