We’re going to have a great season because of the D-Line

And secondary. It’s fricking crazy how depleted we were on D-Line now we have a full rotation of guys that can make another starting D-Line. Throw that in with the secondary and this team is going to cause hell of the defensive side.

I believe that you are correct. With the pressure an executing D-Line can create opponents will have to make quick decisions to execute. Their performance will be key.

I agree, as LSU's defensive line is easily going to be one of the best in the country and the secondary should be sick. But I also believe the linebacking corp will also be vastly improved with the addition of Blake Baker as the new linebacker coach.

Indeed, I'll be very surprised if LSU doesn't have one of the best defenses in 2021.

I also believe that Jake Peetz's offense will also be one of the top offenses in the country if Max wins the starting job. As I have heard that the true freshmen receivers are going to have a large impact in 2021. I've also heard that the running game will be far better relative to 2020 as well.

It should be a very fun season unlike last season

Getting Ali Gaye and Andre Anthony to come back might have been the 2 single most important “additions” to this years team with the exception of Ed Ingram on the OL. Getting Logan and Farrell back were big also but we had the depth inside at DT with Roy, Guillory, Evans and the two freshmen Smith and Langston that we could have gotten by but there would have been a big hole at DE with just an undersized BJ Ojulari and Soni Fonua left that saw significant snaps last year. As for corner, you may never see 2 corners as good as Stingley and Ricks playing together at the same time again. We should easily have a top 3, not the best, defense in the SEC this season.

IMO the play of the linebackers is the separating factors. I mean you can still hope to have a disruptive d-line and I think LSU has the playmakers to do that. But a strong pass rush has been a little bit neutralized in this era of quick read passes. It becomes about how quickly can your LBs read the play, move laterally and either stop or minimize the play. We saw last year how critical it can be when your LBs are either out of position or a step slow to react.

I think Bugg Strong is going to put a lot of people’s minds at ease at the LB position and Mike Jones will be a steady reliable coverage LB on the weak side. It might take a couple games for Strong to get his feet wet with the pace of SEC play but he’s going to be a big hitting Mike LB.

I like the defensive line. I like the linebackers. I love our corners on the outside, but I'm in wait and see mode on the secondary outside of Ricks and Stingley.

My only slight concern is our OL.
We are loaded with depth and talent on defense imo.

I’ll be interested to see if Ali Gaye can contain on his corner this year.

Roy will wreck havoc, now if Guillory can stay healthy.... We'll have our deepest D- line in years. But we need playmakers, not just depth.

During the spring game they looked great and the db’s were flying around marking plays and having fun. If we can get the LB’s to step up we might have the best d in the SEC. could be a great year.
