Coach O has said the competition is extremely close. I didn’t think TJ looked good when he got pressured. He didn’t see that kind of pressure when they played South Carolina. If they get a heavy pass rush from Alabama, I’d play Max and see what he could do using his feet.

Gotta have both ready, because the first one will be a casualty.

At least TJ is big enough that he shouldn't get murdered on the field like Mett years ago

Finley spotted a pedestrian Auburn 21 points. Would it be better to have a quarterback who has better mobility and ball control playing?

They’ve given Finley a game to start, this season is a chance to get young players a good bit of experience. Let Johnson start and see what happens, if it goes bad, put Finley in. O said they were close, so alternate them until Brennan comes back.

Not going to matter. Joe Burrow couldn't score enough points to keep up with how many they will score on our defense

Zach Mettenberger
Height: 6' 5
Weight: 235 lbs

Not exactly a small person.

Agree- this is a rare situation where the 2 QB system makes sense.

A primary goal for the rest of this season is to develop the qb's for the future. It makes sense to give them both plenty of quality reps, and they likely can learn more watching alternating possessions on the sideline with an assistant pointing out teaching points along the way.

Max...the rest of this year and the next two years.

Did y'all not notice the trust the coaches have in Max vs TJ...and Brennan? They went 5 wide and didn't do the Meerkat Formation where everyone looks back at the sideline.

Get used to Max...plus his brother is a stud tightend.

Guys ,I hate to bump an old thread ,just to laugh, but I read that above, and just had to.

Idk if theres ever been any opinion written on this site that's this ridiculous. Then to add to it,its factually incorrect. Wow

Like someone said ,we ran "check with me" all last year unless we were in hurry up ,and we did it this year too. So that means this guy thinks that the coaches didnt trust burrow as much as they trust max Johnson.

And then to add on, he thinks max should start over tj, I can understand trying to give him more practice reps and a gameplan to practice, then see how he does if you start him. I dont agree, cuz tj has shown the ability to play fantastic and max isnt athletic enough to make up for the gap in his and tjs arm talent, but I see where the case could be made.

But then to say he should start over Myles, this year, AND next year, is unreal . Max isnt even on the same planet as Myles brennan.
He will lead us to a great season in 2021 and that d will get some young help and more experience for roy , guillory, gaye, and ojulari.

Not a doubt in my mind that brennan gets us to ten wins, at least, then is drafted on day 2 or very early day 3 to the nfl.
His arm strength, his release speed , his IQ, all are strengths of his and the flaws are mobility and average accuracy . He will be a bit of a project but the nfl will see something in him.

Bama will eat him alive. Max at least has a chance to extend a few plays. Both will play and both will struggle and it will be a blowout. End this abortion and bring on buckets.

Not sure why you're getting downvoted. Idk which one is supposed to be considered more "mobile"

How bout letting Johnson play when the offense isnt set to only having a passing attack because we are down 20 points and actually see what he can do with a run and passing game option . Give both freshmen QB’s the same opportunity and see for sure which one will be the better option for the team.

I would start him. He was decent against Auburn until the pick.
