I thought coaches would line up to come to lsu. We just hired a coach that wasnt getting coordinator offers.

We hear it all the time how great coaches would line up to come to LSU. It just never happens when it's time to hire coaches.

This.

Anyone who says we are elite needs to be kicked in the nuts.

We don't know that they wouldn't have. Our list apparently consisted of Fisher, Herman, and O.

LSU has the most players of any school in the NFL and our AD can't lock down a target. Either LSU is not a top 10 job/program or Joe Alleva is incompetent.

Miles had been an offensive coordinator and a successful head coach.

Seems your assessment of how coaching works isn't as cut and dry as you think it is.

Big time programs do not give position coaches the head coaching job. Its literally NEVER happnes.

I'm not a big fan of the Orgeron hire either, but I don't necessarily agree with this criticism. Coordinator and head coach require two different skill sets, and people who are good at one aren't necessarily good at the other. Honestly, would you have hired Bobby Bowden as a coordinator? I wouldn't--but he was a pretty darn good head coach. Now clearly there are some people (like Saban) who would excel in either role. But there are definitely good program managers who aren't brilliant X and O coordinator types.

My bigger concern is Orgeron's track record as a head coach at Ole Miss. Let's hope he's learned something since then...

Uh. Please point to the time where one of the best programs hired a damn career position coach.
It doesn't happen. When you hire a coach most AD's want a coach that actually ran a successful side of the ball or a successful program. Ed orgeron HAS NEVER done either.

no, you did not think rickdaddy. if you had researched ALL HC hires at the very top in the past you would have KNOWN that there is NO HC job where top coaches line up for.

It's a great job to get you more money at the job you're staying at.

Position coaches with head coaching experience at two different major programs? Just a note of advice: whenever you roll out this lame excuse, don't forget to include the fact that Orgeron HAS, in fact, been a head coach twice before.

And it DOES happen all the time in the NFL, for example. Guys get promoted up and down the line all the time based on their RECENT qualifications.

Get over Orgeron's three years at Ole Miss a decade ago. Let it go. Admit there are other people besides yourself more skilled at making these decisions and enjoy the football games.

If Orgeron completely declines at his position like Miles did, then feel free to complain.
