It sickens me to see bandwagon fans trash our team when we are down and then gloat that we are the best when we win. I hope some of the rantards that post here are the vocal minority.
It's like politics. You can talk until you're blue in the face, but you will NEVER change someone's opinion. They have to come around to it on their own terms.
That said, this website is really a horrible place. fricking godawful. It should be shut down because if you don't think a bunch of 16yr old high school recruits come here and read this board when they are being courted by LSU, you are naive as hell. Recruiting is hard enough thanks to Bama, I'm sure, without our own fanbase tearing down our players at every opportunity.
The negativity here far, far outweighs the good and people seem to think that because it has the arbitrary moniker "The Rant" that it means every post needs to insult, criticize and attack. When our own players are saying things like "we don't need bandwagon fans" it should really tell you something.
Cue the one liner insults from the preteens...

Celebrate that we didn't hire the doucheiest douchebag in all of doucheville to represent LSU?
Holy shite, this board needs more fans like you. Thanks for a good read.

Every coordinator during o's interim tenure was either in their very 1st year as a coordinator or they were fired.
If O is so well thought of ,why has he been a position coach for 29 of his 32 years?
Three athletic directors at three major universities have found Ed Orgeron fit to lead their football team at different points in his career. One decided before the season, one during the season, and one during AND after the season. Those are facts, and the semantics of your argument that his interim coaching record doesn't count because it wasn't a full season is so pathetic.
These facts burn you up. They kill you. You can't deal with it because you can't comprehend how someone can improve at their job. Your bitter tears have blinded you, haven't they? Blinded you to the realization that Eddie O turned this team around and gave the fans what we had been screaming for since your hero got his balls ripped out of his scrotum on 1/9/12.
So I'm perfectly content to give CEO a fair chance, and I'm rooting for him to succeed. There's a lot of people in the LSU organization that love this hire and think he's earned the right to coach our LSU Tigers.
And then there's you and your fascinating, irrational hatred.
I'm happy with my choice...
quote:
He's had two HC positions. Old Miss and LSU (current). USC was an interim position. I'm sorry you're too stupid to distinguish between the two concepts.
It's not a concept, it's a job title. What do you think the players called him?
"Hey, interim guy, put me in the game!"
Spend more of your life posting on TigerRant - you'll figure it out.

Now with three (3) head coaching positions at major universities on his resume.
Just two.
You count about as well as you defend your position, don't you?
With snappy comebacks like that, it's no wonder you have more than 25k insightful comments here.

It means he was so low on the staff that he wouldnt get fire by the administration when a season went bad. Also, dave Aranda is actually far more qualified than Ed Orgeron and was actually hired to be his boss.
Yes, he was so "low on the staff" at USC and LSU that the administration said, "You know, we just fired our head coach, so let's promote somebody ahead of both of our coordinators that's completely unqualified to be our interim head coach. I think that's the best way to move forward this season."
I guess in your delusional world that's how it went.
Your "facts" consist of nothing but bitching and moaning nonstop that Orgeron is a career D-line coach. A CAREER D-LINE COACH!! OH MY GOD!!! NOOOOO!!!!!
I guess you should call up Joe Alleva and give him the cold hard facts:
"I am Rickdaddy4188, bitch! I average nearly 5,000 posts a year on TigerDroppings.com, don't you know that?! Hey, I KNOW Ed Orgeron is nothing but a career D-line coach, and I KNOW you hired Dave Aranda to be his boss, which explains perfectly why you passed him over TWICE in one season to take over LSU's head coaching duties. And don't think I DON'T KNOW you offered him two coordinator contracts in the span of one season as part of your elaborate plan to lure Orgeron into a false sense of security before we unleash our entitled, whiny, utterly irrational dim bulb fanbase on him. His record at USC and LSU doesn't count because he didn't coach the whole season!"
That about cover it, yeah?
Looking forward to many, many more years of fascinating commentary from you, fella.

We hired a 55 year old career dline coach
Now with three (3) head coaching positions at major universities on his resume. Which means that three times now, athletic directors at Ole Miss, USC and LSU all came to the same conclusion - that he was better qualified to run the team than anybody else on staff.
Your obsession with this fascinates me.
I'm trying to figure exactly how long (weeks, months, years???) you will continue to post your obligatory "career D-line coach" bullshite every time his name is brought up.

Straw man arguments are really facile.
You seriously going to sit there and tell me there isn't a very large component of "fans" on this board that don't represent exactly what I suggested? That there isn't thread after thread about how horrible this hire is, how badly he will fail, how unqualified he is, how stupid people are for supporting him, how nobody wanted to hire him, etc etc etc?
Straw man my arse. You can be upset at the hire all you want, but try to evaluate things objectively. Dude has done nothing recently to suggest he isn't qualified to lead this team.
Fans who act like spoiled, whiny, entitled bitches from the literal second he gets the job are not going to help this program in any way, shape or form.
quote:
I really hate this line of thinking. It is retarded. Of course we don't. No one does. The problem is that because of the uncertainties, institutions must take calculated risks when hiring a chief executive. Those calculations are made on the basis of resumes.
It is no more retarded than your line of thinking, because "calculated risks" made by "institutions" extend way beyond a simple resume. Why is that so hard for people to understand?
People act like the last coaching job Orgeron had was at Ole Miss 10 years ago. This is convenient for your narrative, because you don't like the hire. But as a matter of fact, since 2013 Orgeron is 11-4 as a head coach in two seasons at two of the premier schools in the country. You can't simply discount that achievement because it came with an "interim" tag - in fact, it should probably carry more weight due to the unique circumstances that come along with that challenge.
Does anyone know how this will play out? No, on that we can agree. But frame your argument that way, not "we're gonna shite all over him until he proves he can do it, then absolve ourselves of any accountability for being a complete dick to him from day one."
You know?
quote:
Orgeron's record at Ole Miss is irrelevant
It's not irrelevant; it's just not nearly as relevant as some people who appear to be obsessed with it around here would lead you to believe.
Walnut, Gravy and AussieTigerFan... thank you for your responses. They are the epitome of perfection!
Does a typical thread on the Rant really HAVE to go like this?

Thread title: "So... if we don't get Fisher or Herman, then who does LSU hire?"
First guy: "I swear to god, if we don't get Jimbo or Tom Herman by the time I finish this beer, that pussy Joe Alleva should be fired immediately. He's making LSU look like a bitch! He's a total cuck. A total bitch-cuck-pussy if there ever was one."
Second guy: "This is the reason LSU is never gonna beat Bama, cuz too many fans got gay for Orgeron because he's from Louisiana. He was terrible at Ole Miss 10 years ago! Yaw yaw yaw, he's one of us, what a cool accent!!!"
Third guy: "Actually, Orgeron has done a pretty damn fine job since taking over for Miles and fixed most of the things people bitched about when Miles was here. Or have you not noticed?"
Fourth guy: "Are you dumb, or just retarded? Don't you know that Miles is the winningest coach in LSU history?"
Third guy: "We aren't talking about Miles, we're talking about our new head coach."
First guy: "I hope we can get Herman, but I guess I'd be cool with O if it came to that. Dude really loves Louisiana and the players and the fans."
Fourth guy: "LSU better not hire that dumb coonass! He's a career d-line coach. How many teams want to hire a guy that's never even been a coordinator? There's probably 2,000 better coordinators in college football than this career d-line coach loser. Did I mention he's a CAREER D-LINE COACH? It blows my mind how our fanbase can be so blind. And such losers!
Second guy: "Yaw yaw yaw! Yaw yaw yaw!"
Third guy: "So, I guess miserable jackasses like you would just rather us lose every game so O won't get hired, right?"
Fourth guy: "You do know he's a CAREER D-LINE COACH!"
Fifth guy: "Hey, Herman might not turn out to be any better than Orgeron, you just never know. He's lost a lot of games he was supposed to win this season."
Second guy: "Shut yer WHORE MOUTH, baw! Herman is an offensive genius! If you ever got to watch any football when you aren't being cucked in your mother's basement, you'd know that... you stupid cuck!"
Fifth guy: "You don't really understand what cuckolding is at all, do you dude?"
Fourth guy: "Yeah, we're about to get cucked by a CAREER D-LINE coach! I mean, nobody at Syracuse even wanted this guy!"
Third guy: "Well, if Herman is such a genius, how come he's losing to Memphis right now?"
Second guy: "Feel free to GFY at your earliest convenience, loser."
Second guy: "Yaw yaw yaw! D-LINE COACH! Yaw yaw yaw! OLE MISS!"
Fourth guy: "One thing's for sure, if you don't agree that Dave Aranda is the greatest defensive coach of all time, you probably voted for Crooked Hillary! #MAGA #FIRECUCKALLEVA #BUILDAWALLAROUNDBAMA
And so on and so forth.... Truly enlightening discussion around here.
Still, all in all, a pretty great day for LSU.

Pretty much. Eliminate even one of the fumbles against Fla and his only loss is a 10-0 game against Bama.

Big time programs do not give position coaches the head coaching job. Its literally NEVER happnes.
Position coaches with head coaching experience at two different major programs? Just a note of advice: whenever you roll out this lame excuse, don't forget to include the fact that Orgeron HAS, in fact, been a head coach twice before.
And it DOES happen all the time in the NFL, for example. Guys get promoted up and down the line all the time based on their RECENT qualifications.
Get over Orgeron's three years at Ole Miss a decade ago. Let it go. Admit there are other people besides yourself more skilled at making these decisions and enjoy the football games.
If Orgeron completely declines at his position like Miles did, then feel free to complain.

LSU did it twice... in one season?

The majority of the negative ranters are probably still mad that hillary lost. TOO BAD. GROW UP.
The majority of Pro O supporters were Hillary supporters, the same supporters that prevented us from firing Miles last year. Those that wanted Fisher or Herman wanted to Make LSU Great Again.
Can you fricks take your fricking political pissing match somewhere else? Seriously, frick off. This is a football coach hired to work with a bunch of 18-21 year old kids. The whole idea is that college football exists to distract us from the horrible shite going on in real life.
quote:
Alleva did not conduct a real search; that is what bothers me
That could be true, and one of the very few legit complaints I've seen around here. I guess we'll never know for sure, and it's pretty useless worrying about it now.
But, it does sound like Alleva was pretty decisive when it came down to it. Fisher and Herman appeared to be 1a and 1b, and when they wanted to play games, he said frick off and hired Orgeron. You could infer that Alleva thought there was no one besides Herman or Fisher that suited our team better than O and went from there.
The result may not be what some people wanted, but the execution was much cleaner than last year, no doubt.

Sad. I just have to keep reminding myself that the large majority of our fanbase does not react like the spoiled, entitled, immature drama queens on this site.
Orgeron may work out; he may not. You can say the exact same thing about Fisher or Herman, and rather than throw your support behind the guy that has done a really admirable job in a very difficult situation this season, you'd rather just throw him under a bus.
Well done, Tiger fans. You should all go out and apply for LSU's AD job immediately. Of course, no one would support you because a) you have no previous success at the highest level of sports administration, and b) Alabama and Ohio State weren't "clamoring" to hire you first.
Congrats, Corch. I know the administration, a lot of fans, and most importantly - the kids believe in you. frick everybody else.
