Yes, screw them. Bothering coaches in the middle of critical moments in games is dumb like the user above said. You want media interviews, deal with it when he's not managing a game. That's not a negative you listed. Do you want another Orgeron out there who couldn't be bothered to care about the football program so he let everyone else decide on what LSU's needs were at defensive coordinator? You see what he did to the program.
I'll take a OCD coach who overthinks any day. Seems to be working out just fine for LSU.

LSU has had the best pitching staff in the country for multiple years now.
LSU has the best 1-2 starting pitchers in the country. LSU emphatically does not have the best pitching staff in the country.
It's why this is happening right now, because Jay is deathly afraid of only being able to use Eyanson for 3-4 innings and then have his bullpen covering 5-6 innings.

This weather delay to 8 is stupid. Radar clear. Nothing coming thru until overnight if at all

Makes just as much sense as delaying the game to 8
I think we should just play at 6:06am at this point. Just to frick with people. It's not usually raining at that time, even in the summer.

Whoever makes the calls is a fricking retard.

We all know it’s him. What’s most aggravating is that - for whatever reason - Jay is too scared to say publicly he is the one behind delaying the game. Instead we get some mysterious boogey man (maybe it’s the NCAA, maybe its ESPN) and yet in today's Information Age nobody can give us a name.
And it’s only the Baton Rouge Regional that this (delaying a game with no rain and no lightning) has happened repeatedly. TV crews and NCAA reps come and go. The only constant is Jay Johnson.
Sadly, the guy is going to keep on doing it and then hiding when fans start asking legitimate questions.
While I tend to agree that it traces back to him, I think there’s probably a little more nuance than you’re suggesting.
Officially, the NCAA rep makes the call with input from the home team’s designated facilities/weather folks. So let’s say Jay is indeed gaming the system for competitive reasons. He’s not going to come out and say “we had our site reps advise the NCAA rep that it was a bad idea to start at [insert time] because we didn’t want to burn Eyanson.” That would (rightfully) draw scrutiny from the NCAA. So it’s probably about more than just avoiding fans’ questions.

Take cover.

Lightning can strike more than 10 miles away from the rainfall area of a thunderstorm, and in some cases, it has been known to strike as far as 60 miles away. Additionally, certain types of lightning, like "anvil lightning," can occur even further, up to 124 miles from the parent storm.

I’d prefer to avoid this scenario, myself.

It would really suck to have to burn our starter after 8 innings of baseball because of this rain
Posted on 6/8/25 at 6:30 pm to LSUGrrrl
The riots in LA are highly entertaining till first pitch
Posted on 6/8/25 at 6:31 pm to BigTigerJoe
in that case most louisiana games shouldbe delayed

We would be in the 5th or 6th inning with no rain imminent right now if the game started on time.

When I see lightning, you know it always brings me down

Serna just missed another field goal

It’s probably going to take a name program with a large following being sent here and having it impact their game directly or indirectly, and their media questioning the site reps before any real attention is drawn to it.
That would (rightfully) draw scrutiny from the NCAA. So it’s probably about more than just avoiding fans’ questions.
