With a lame drop back passer (slow QB) like the one we had.

So you're saying Georgia isn't going to beat Bama because of Fromm?

Again? Getting ripped to shreds once wasn't enough?

Again, I point to Georgia

True freshman. True pocket passer.
Negative rushing yards against Oklahoma.

Playing in the NCG.

Mate, I think you are wrong. By my count, Since 2000 only 4 teams have won a title with a "dual threat" QB. That's counting Deshaun Watson, who was more of a pocket passer but was labeled DT coming out of HS.

2016 Clemson
2015 Alabama
2014 Ohio State
2013 Florida State (Jameis was pro style)
2012 Alabama
2011 Alabama
2010 Auburn
2009 Alabama
2008 Florida
2007 LSU
2006 Florida (Chris Leak was the starter)
2005 Texas
2004 Southern California
2003 LSU (Mauck could run but wasn't a "dual threat" QB
2002 Ohio State
2001 Miami (Fla.)
2000 Oklahoma

Statue QBs typically don't fare well against Bama

He might not make it through the game

Fromm can read the defense and gets the offense out of bad plays. We just need an intelligent QB who understands how to read defenses and has a skill set conducive to being successful game in game out. That can be dual threat or drop back but if you ask me, I’d prefer a drop back passer. When you’re down, in the 4th, you have to know that your QB can make all the passes and get you downfield.

Problem is we're in the SEC West and our path to the CFP goes through Alabama. You aren't going to stand much of a chance getting by them with a statue QB. And we might have to beat them twice to get a title.

You gotta be really fast and sling it all around ... kinda like AJ McCarron, Greg McElroy, and Matt Leinart.

Fact is, Etling played his last game of big time football, and is a tough and hard nosed kid who gave it everything he had. The difference with most Top 4 programs is elite QB play. We haven't had elite QB play since Matt.

I just want a fundamentally sound QB with good with RPO, going through his checks effectively and be able to hit receivers and not fumble the ball. have full command of the offense. Good gosh we haven't had that since Mett and prior to Mett, Flynn.
