We should move Savion Jones inside to DT next year

We all agree he played about 15-20 lbs too heavy this year and it zapped his first step but instead of having him slim down why not teach him to play some 3-tech inside and let some others play DE where we have more depth? I think he could at least be a versatile guy that can move inside and outside depending on the situation.

It would be much easier for him to just drop 10-15 pounds

Agreed but we have way more depth outside than inside. We will have to get creative at DT, especially if Maason Smith leaves too. He needs to be priority #1 to keep.

Disagree. Drop him back down to his best playing weight of 2 seasons ago. Let him get lighter and quicker. He was almost unstoppable.

They need to move him inside a Pizza Hut! His fat arse is way too slow!

Wherever he plays, he needs to learn how to disengage from blocks.

I think Shand will end up playing tackle

I cannot remember a single time I ever watched an LSU game that Saivion Jones played in and thought “this guy is almost unstoppable”.

This was my thought as well. We should return Shand, Swinson, Womack, and Howard at DE but don’t have any depth at DT especially if Smith leaves too.

People are downing this, but we have depth at DE, but none at DT. If Smith goes, who is at DT? Guillory, Shand? Lee? Hill? We have 2 freshman DTs and neither are ready to do much of anything in 2024.

Months back I thought we should bulk Wiggins up and put him at DT, but since he's gone, Jones is the next best thing unless we actually address this in the portal.

Jones is very stiff and definitely seems to be heading towards the DT position. I was shocked at how little body movement and flexibility both Jones and Smith have. They move like zombies. Moffett never had zombies.

Our entire Defensive Line needs to work on this, almost to the exclusion of anything else.
