You gotta make those players feel pain and mental abuse while you are training them… then you rebuild them into confident Alphas that know practice is much harder than any game they will play. He doesn’t stress their mind and bodies enough. Mental toughness leads to physical toughness. If a player whiffed on a tackle or stopped trying mid play, they should fear returning to the sidelines and what is gonna happen to them at practice.

Why can’t one of the sportswriters ask Orgeron about the defense problems. As in, Coach— last year you said that you needed to fix the crossing routes. It’s still a problem. What makes us believe you will fix it this year? Or, receivers running wide open down the field, you were going to fix that too. No change this year. How many years does it take to fix a problem? Why weren’t we more physical on both sides of the ball? You said this defensive line was the best in your tenure. What happened? Is your evaluation suspect again?

It’s time for sportswriters to quit giving him a pass.

maybe

but it's odd that UCLA's entire defense was all seniors, some were 6th year seniors

that's unusual, very unusual

He wants to take the $’s and RUN!

He quit and so did his players.

However, « for cause » is looming and he is in for a rude face-plant!!

Yea you’d think you’d play physical in your first game of the season in a sport built around physicality with a state full of people yearning for a 3 hour distraction.

Or not

Coach O did watch the same game I watched. Football is blocking and tackling. I did not see LSU do a whole lot of either. I wonder what LSU does at practice? THESE TIGERS ARE SOFT.

The missed tackle by Major Burns on that long TD to the TE was the beginning of the end for Ed.

Physical is in the culture or is not.

Exactly!

You don’t/can’t “fix” being physical during the season.

He's in his 5th full year and doesn't have a physical team to beat a Pac 12 team that's 12-20 over the past few seasons.

This is a coach that's supposedly learned from his past mistakes.
