You have a hard time connecting things.

I don't know about all the arguments on the particulars of the euro landscape, but this guy basically nailed it on page 2...

Hickey/Quarterman
Morgan/Stringer (this could easily be flipped)
Martin/Coleman
JOB/Mickey
Odo/Malone

Yep that's the way most folks see it. With Martin and Mickey being interchangeable at the 3 and 4 for the most part.

Mickey looks more of a 3 than Martin but we will probably put him there some to get the best 5 on the court.

Stringer was recruited to be a PG and started for a year at the position. He was pushed out of that role because Hickey is better at the position.

Stringer was pushed out of that position because he isn't a PG. His height made people want to make him a PG, but he is and always was an undersized 2. Now, JJ may have been able to make him into a PG in his system, but he was never going to be one under Big Bird.

Pretty much all of that was said about Andre Stringer, too. Some guys need to mature for the game to slow down.

I dont know how you could possibly even come close to comparing Stringer to Collins.

Dude, Stringer was out of control building houses from 25 feet out his freshman year and had stretches of really inefficient play as a sophomore.

I used to feel this way also, but after seeing some of the highlights of Mickey I'm not sure. He plays taller than I expected him to, and he's a finisher around the basket. I'm sure they'll get time at both though.

There's a big difference in taking far out 3 point shots because you're 5'9 and dribbling the ball around turning it over 50% of the time. Stringer was never a turnover machine, but he was definitely an average to below average ball handler. Collins just cant seem to do anything right. Stringer had a shot, he was just as taking it too far out too often. Collins doesn't have a shot, cant dribble and move, cant pass, cant see things as they happen. I mean he literally just cant do anything even on an average level.

Collins is shooting .375 on FG
Stringer shot .334 on FG as a Freshmen

Collins is shooting .435 from 3 (best on the team)
Stringer shot .295 from 3 as a Freshmen

Dude have you been watching at all? Collins has taken about 10 shots through SEC play total.

I'm not writing off Collins just yet. He hasn't been good, that obvious, but he reclassified early and skipped a year. He's still very green. This offseason will be big for him. I'm still holding out some hope.

I certainly hope h gets much better, because that would just be another asset for us, but, I'm not holding out hope.

Which doesn't change the fact that Stringer was terrible as a Freshmen (with a significant sample size). Am I supposed to count it against Collins that Trent Johnson allowed Stringer to keep chucking?

You say Collins is a terrible shooter. The stats, no matter how small of a sample size, discredit your statement.

Stringer was a MUCH better player as a freshman than Collins has been. It's not even remotely comparable. Stop trying to.

The stats are meaningless. Collins is a spot duty player who averages a few minutes an SEC game where as Stringer started and played 30 minutes a game. Collins in SEC play is 3 for 12 shooting and 0 for 4 from 3 point land. You cant possibly compare the 2.

Everything is too fast for Collins. He's also gotten worse with that mask on. He'll improve and be a better backup than Chris Bass, but he's got to get comfortable first.

Personally, I dont see him being better than Bass, but that would be good if he gets to even as good as Bass was. Bass was serviceable as a backup.
