We have the line depth. It's just raw.

Between OL and DL we added:
Chasen Hines (OG/DT)
Badara Traore (OT)
Cameron Wire (OT)
Dominic Livingston (DT/NT)
Davin Cotton (DE)
Dare Rosenthal (OT)
Cole Smith (OC)
Nelson Jenkins (DT)
Damien Lewis (OG)
Lewis has been and instant starter. Traore has started, but has struggled to adjust to SEC speed and talent. These are all 2018 freshmen and will provide future starters and depth, but some of these kids just aren't SEC ready yet.
It's disappointing that some of the DL prospects haven't gotten in the rotation yet, but at least the cupboard won't be bare for 2019 and they could develop into quality players. I'm not sold on Meatball as the DL coach. He and O need to get more out of our current DL talent.
The 2019 class has 3 OTs, 1 OC and big Kardell (OG) currently committed. Only one DT is committed, but we are in solid position to sign the #1 DT (Sopsher).
The big question marks for next year are Ingram's status and if Shelvin becomes the player he should be or follows down the path of the invisible one, Trevonte Valentine.
Just looking at our current OL/DL status and what to expect going forward.

Lewis and Traore are both juniors.
eta: We still need some more depth and talent on both lines. We have 1 Center, 1 Guard, and 3 Tackles committed. We only have 1 DT committed, hope to get Sospher but I reminded of the lesson from last year with Surtain and waiting until the last minute.

OL will be fine. Ingram hurt us a little but they have played better than expected. They had a bad week with some guys not being able to practice. This week they will be good to go.

We definitely have OL depth
But the DL we have maybe 1 quality backup and then 1 guy you’re like “ok he can take snaps”
And then no one.

if the coaches don't think they are ready to play and won't play them, you have no depth.
not trying to be negative, but the way things work around here fehoko and alexander will probably leave for the nfl and we'll be screwed once again.

With switching some of the commits from DT to OL the remaining DL players are not the higher ranked recruits so I agree we lack quality DL players. We've likely gambled on locking down Sopsher by offering his brother, but there are no guarantees he's as good as advertised. We need more DT's in this class, but I'm not sure who we can pull at this point. We definitely need to do better with DL recruiting in my opinion.

I wonder how many "just wait til next season"'s I'll have to endure...

But really we need more than Sophser
It’s a weird gamble when we need like 2-3 quality guys who are ready to play next year.
We could lost Lawrence and Fehoko. IF Alexander really can’t play who the duck is our DL?
Farrell Logan and cotton?

Number of bodies does not equal depth.
If they are raw, they are not up to the task, that is not depth.

I mean like drug high, alcohol drunk and DAGRCD crazy.
There's nothing "Fine" about the LSU OL.
Pump It. Pump It. Pump the "We'll be Fine" BS.

Not trying to convince anyone. What's hurt us the most is we have 2 supposedly very good DL players that we can't get much value out of because one has a chronic injury and the other can't get in shape. Logan is a soph. so he will return. The problem this season is that there is a significant drop from the starters to the next group that may or may not step up next year. This season we were counting on a healthy Lawrence, Big Ed, Fehoko and a game ready Shelvin. Logan has been OK, but Fehoko is the only player that has been consistently healthy. Farrell has played some, but he is not a dominant player. I think they needed those 4 to hold up while they develop and slowly rotate in the others. That being said, there is a lack of dynamic DE/DTs outside Lawrence and Fehoko.

I wonder how many more douche bag posts like this we'll have to endure when someone makes a thread discussing the current status of the team. I even threw in a criticism of O and his DL protégé Meatball. That should make you happy.

I agree. I responded to that earlier. Moving some of these guys to OL then makes quality DL an issue again and we need to really push harder for DT commits.
