I’d start Javen game one. Less risk of walking 4 in the first inning and putting lsu in a nightmare scenario
Coleman has 10 BB in his last 9 IP. Hurd has 8 BB in his last 19.2 IP.

1. Winning game 1 is the most important thing in this regional. Having Skenes be able to face the number 2 in the money game is the goal. You can’t do anything to risk that not happening.
2. If Hurd is needed in the supers, you don’t want him starting a game on 2 weeks rest. You need him to have a quality start Friday to keep him in line for next weekend if needed.

Who do you want to see pitch vs Tulane? Would you utilize Cooper at all, given the success he had during his last outing?

The perfect plan
Hurd for 7 on Friday
Skenes for 7 on Saturday
Floyd for 7 on Sunday
Bullpen gets you 6 innings
Offense pounds the mediocre pitching all 3 other teams in regional have

Hurd should start vs Tulane. You want 5-7ip and a normal bullpen game using 1-2 other guys. Hopefully you get up big and can use lower tier guys to get the final outs.

I agree with LE here, I think Hurd is the starter. Besides possible innings pitched and lockdown, I also think I’d prefer to save lefty arms. —- that’s for guys that want to start Coleman.

Hurd pitches game 1 to get into the winners bracket. Skenes pitches game 2 to setup Floyd for game 3. If for whatever reason we need to go to a game 4 then you pitch Coleman.
You don't save Hurd there. You pitch him to setup the weekend in the winners bracket. This is still baseball and can lose on any given day.
