We get no respect!
Couldn't disagree more. While other programs (SC, tOSU, ZeroU, Texass, etc.) may get more exposure, LSU is well-respected by the national media. Hell, even the New York City newspapers do stories on the Tigers occasionally.

yet we're rarely mentioned in discussions of college footballs great teams.
Wrong--go to MSNBC.com & see who is listed in the "Program of the Decade" debate.

What is it going to take for LSU to get some sort of respect?
That Peach Bowl beat-down of a hyped GTU has started to turn the spotlight on the Tigers again. Already a consensus #7 in 2009 pre-season polls.

considering that we are also the has produced some of the "Greatest" NFL talent, Marshall Faulk, Ed Reed, and the Manning Brothers to name a few.
Not sure what you mean here--you realize NONE of those played at LSU?

only to be left out of the final AP Poll?
I'm too lazy to research, but I'd be curious as to how many 5-LOSS teams were ranked in final AP, coaches, or other polls? I'd bet not many.
The Tigers have a great chance to end the decade next season with another 10+ wins season and head into the next decade on a roll.

Not going 7-5 and losing to 4-7 teams. Ever.

As much as I agree about the lack of respect, can you tell me which years the Manning brothers played at LSU? There must be a couple of the I missed.

I think what dahulk is saying is that we get no kudos for simply being LSU.
USC could Lay a turd and the sports media would say, "hey, it almost looks gold-plated."
LSU gets mention because our accomplishements speak for themselves. In short, we are now impossible to ignore because we have done so well since 1995. People don't sit and slobber over us though. There is usually a caveat to our greatness, "the only 2-loss bcs championship team ever." or that we shared the title in 2003 with USC. Pete Carrol is a genius/Les is a mad hatter kind of talk.
Take home: we are a great team that cannot be ignored. We don't, however, get a lot of extra lovin.

On a serious note. I know a lot of people who live in Oklahoma, and every single one of them tell me over and over again that we (LSU) are hands down the most obnoxious people on earth. They hate us because of the way they were treated in New Orleans. They tell me every time I see them that other fans are obnoxious but they cant compete with LSU, nobody even comes close to us.
I suppose that maybe some in the national media feel the same way about us LSU fans and this is why we are so disrespected by them.

oh wow...I missed this the first time....

Don't lose to weak sisters like Arkansas and you get respect.

Win a national title with two losses and follow up with an 8-5 season losing to Arkie, Bama, sh*t packed by Ole Miss, Florida, UGA?
Respect? Get real. I'm proud of my Tiguhs but I'm not into Kool Aid. LSU gets plenty of respect out there. Don't kid yourself. We actually get respect a lot of times where we might not deserve it.

Manning brothers, Faulk, and Reed did not go to LSU.
You are kinda correct on the other points however. Easily solved by winning it all in 09.

I'm sure Florida fans were real courteous. Guess they forgot the batteries they usually throw in Gainesville the night of the BCSNCG

We (like every other program in history) have had bad losses, down periods, and hiccup seasons. And yet, as many posters have pointed out, we get tons of respect from the pundits now. Again, we were an unranked 8-5 team this year and are already ranked in many top 10s (and some top 5s) for next year.

Proof that we never get any respect & ESPN hates LSU
I shall never tire of Mark May watching Gramps just crap all over himself about ND, then calmly shutting his pie hole.
Look, ESPN doesn't particularly like LSU (or the SEC) because USC and Pete Carroll's hair sell more air time. But other than Herbie and Holtz, I find them pretty objective.

considering that we won 2 National Championships since 2003, only surpassed by our conference rival, Florida

What is it going to take for LSU to get some sort of respect?

Guess you missed the part where ESPN will pay the SEC over $2 billion the next 15 years to broadcast all SEC football games (minus the CBS game) as well as tons of basketball games.
It will be branded as SEC on ESPN, the only conference to have such a deal.
Yeah, they really don't like LSU and the SEC.

This thread is about the deep-seated inferiority complex of immature college geeks.

After a year in which you went 8-5, and lose around 10 starters, nearly every cfb expert is putting you in their preseason top 10, a few in the top 5. Spare me the "no respect" card.
