If that's the best we can do, then just hire BRCC's softball coach or just some fat, out of shape dude, who used to play high school baseball, but now coaches his church's softball team. I'm sure we can get someone like that real cheap, especially in this economy.

I feel bad for the players.

wonder if Yvette approved this one too? If she's hired I trust Alleva on this one

Torina because she would be a safe, cooperative hire. LSU is looking for a coach the players, fans and administration will get along with easily and like; someone who won't "rock the boat" or "make the kids complain".

Not a big fan of this style of hiring. Are we considering whether this coach can win a national title or SEC at all?

wow, wow, wow. what an unappealing hire to say the least.

I will of course support her, but damn Alleva...damn...

These factors perhaps diminished Houston head coach and former UL-Lafayette pitching star Kyla Holas' chances of getting the job. 9-Sports is told Holas never received a formal interview in Baton Rouge because her personality can be a bit abrasive. LSU administrators sensed that tough exterior during phone conversations…which turned them off.

Guess Alleva would have never hired Saban using that criteria

I don't know a damn thing about her ability as a coach, but I do know that a program's success is heavily influenced by a lot of things that a coach has nothing to do with.

Not trying to defend or promote her but I am pointing out that there are plenty of other factors that play a role in a team's success.

The last thing we need is an abrasive pain in the arse softball coach. I'll take it in other sports, but why should we be relegated to that from a softball coach? We just got dicked over by Murphy I'm sure the last thing they want is some Ulala girl that can't be friendly on the phone with the possibility of a substantial pay raise. That just makes her seem stupid.

Apparently not. Bad move on Alleva's part I think. LSU wants to get this over with and is going for the "safe" hire.

I wouldn't be surprised if we're looking for a new coach in 2 years. Murphy chickening out really fricked LSU good. He even cost us a shot at Kentucky's coach.

I'll take everyone's word for it because I really don't have a pulse on college softball that would have my opinion matter much.

Alabama head coach Pat Murphy's stunning change of heart to return to Tuscaloosa basically cost LSU three coaches - (obviously) Murphy himself, his longtime assistant Alyson Habetz and Kentucky head coach Rachel Lawson.

Sources said LSU was ready to hire Habetz on the spot, but she became afraid and then decided to return with Murphy to the Crimson Tide. Sources added Lawson would've jumped at the opportunity to coach at LSU, but signed an extension with the Lady Wildcats after it appeared the job was filled.

To hell with you Pat Murphy.

She's young and unproven, plus she only has one post-season appearance to her credit. She doesn't deserve any more than what Yvette was getting.

I'm not saying that she won't turn out to be a good coach, it's just that after the Patrick Murphy debacle, this would be a very underwhelming hire.

so after we "steal" this fine upstanding coach from FIU does that mean we have a "in" with the Men's BB Coach when it comes time to run Trent off?
