There are not 100 coaches that can achieve greatness at LSU and SUSTAIN it. There are very, very few who are capable of that. You're acting as though I indicated O was the next best thing after jimbob and herman. Hell no I didn't say that or imply that. And I don't give a shite if 100 other coaches could've done better than 9 & 4 LAST SEASON. That's 1 season! I'm asking who the hell you can get that can go toe to toe EVERY SEASON in the SEC.

But...based on resumes alone, there were EASILY 100 better options than our own DL coach and his career record of 10-25.
Whether or not all or any of those would have worked out and REGARDLESS of whether or not Orgeron goes on to win 7 NC's at LSU, this will always remain true.
LSU hired a man that literally no other Power 5 conference team was even looking at as a coach, and we did it following two different men winning National Titles at our program. That level of negligence on the part of our AD and BOS is almost hard to comprehend.

Step 1: Hire a man that either has shown he can get a program to compete at the highest level as a head coach or at least not hire a man that has shown the exact opposite in the SEC.
Step 2: There is no Step 2. Hiring is always a crap shoot and the goal is to mitigate risk. That's why you hire the best available and hope past results come with the candidate. You don't hire the risky candidate available and then attempt to argue that if things miraculously work out the gamble was worth it.
