I’m hoping for this as well. HVL can shoot lights out in her natural position. She can sub Poa in more against teams who run a press.

She can & does, at times.
But in this one-pass black-hole offense, she's better off being the recipient of the pass as a SG.
Now, if she had the greenlight to score at PG, like Notre Dame's Hidalgo, then it might work.

Dude? Poole had 6 turnovers per game every game I watched last year - Poole was garbage
Someone else in a previous thread said that CKM wanted HVL to take the PG role which is not her natural role--we'll see how long that lasts I guess

Velez is the only true point guard. I don't understand why she doesn't play.

She got some minutes pre-SEC and seemed somewhat overwhelmed. Lots of turnovers.

Velez has struggled when she has played sparingly, but she is a freshmen with not much experience so I'm not going to be super critical but its wild LSU signed the #1 class and really only one player can break the rotation for significant minutes on a team desperate for some type of bench production.
That said it goes back to LSU not developing a decent bench. LSU has 4 or so players sitting on the bench giving LSU basically nothing. Its a glaring issue. The starting five gets way too tired and its very noticeable. Asking a 5 to 6 man rotation to go all out all the way through March is crazy and likely not fair to them. There are likely gonna be hiccups in the road because they dont have depth.

Really miss the quickness of Morris and that "dawg" mentality when things get hectic. Love HVL but she doesn't have the quickness to get around real PGs nor can she guard them all the time. Poole was a spark occasionally but was a 2 Guard, not a PG so she couldn't solve the above problem now.
But better conditioning, and the development of another 1-2 players for spelling starters in short spurts would really help.

I honestly don't think Williams should be starting. Her defense is atrocious. She is a liability.
Unfortunately, Poa is the best option at PG. VL should be at wing in place of Williams. Williams should not be starting.
Man if smith hadn't gotten injured. That was a huge loss... especially considering the current level of play.

Van Lith, when on the floor, slows the offensive tempo too much. Instead of passing she continues to dribble. That causes the other 4 girls to stop making cuts and movement to get open.

poole would have been a big contributor, she can take her man off the dribble and caught and shoot and her defense was solid.
