LSU and the WBB team can't do anything about that
of course they could, they could spend way less
give millions to the men and see how many 5 star players they can buy

If it helps LSU football and baseball become or continue to stay dominant, then I don’t give a flying shite if Women’s basketball ever wins another game.
The reason WBB loses money is because of TV contracts. Period. Remember reading the recent article? If any program needs to be dropped at LSU its MBB. It has never been, and will never be any big deal.
LSU WBB is one of the best in the country and probably makes more money than any other program in the country. TV contracts, not disinterest, is putting WBB in the red.
With NIL, patches, and 12 million dollar deals for a dumb 19 year old, I am totally becoming disinterested in college football. Many are.

Well, that's not true. Lsu has had times where MBB was the most popular sport on campus.

She left because her and the new AD butted heads. I've heard essentialy he was making her miserable about all the money going through him. She wanted to come here, because LSU appreciates KM. Baylor's AD was like all the posters here. He didn't appreciate her for what she brougjt to the program. I would venture to say that overall athletics at Baylor are in worse shape because he pushed her out.

the reason for bad TV contracts is lack of interest.

We need to invest in men's hoops also, but you're on the right track.

How does baseball fare year in and year out? Curious?
Posted on 7/5/25 at 7:52 pm to ScootiniTiger
There was a 10-15 year stretch not terribly long ago, where men's basketball was the king of LSU's campus.
If we ever get and stay rolling in it again, it'll be a clear #2 in BR.
I know those under 35 don't believe this, but it's true.

Hate to say it, but if a sport is losing a large amount of money it should be cut.
Sorry, but this is an institute for learning, not for producing athletic teams to entertain fans.
By that logic high schools shouldn’t have sports or clubs.

They lose money every year. Not $8 million, but $1-2 million probably.

Couldn’t agree more. Watching about 40 missed layups a game is just not entertaining.

That is terribly long ago, pops.

I said it when we hired CKM … it’s crazy to me how much we pay her. She could win 20 titles straight but it still doesn’t make sense to pay a HC that kind of money in a sport that, significantly, loses money for the school.

This is flat wrong. LSU baseball turns a profit. It’s minimal but they do. They’re one of, if not the only, baseball team in the country to turn a profit for their University.

No you're incorrect. They lost $1.9 million in 2024. The audit is online anyone can read it. They came close to breaking even (slight deficit of $66,000) in 2023.

its ok for a high school to lose 50k to pay for uniforms and travel.
LSU women are losing 8 million.
there should be a cap on losses. maybe 1.5 million. spend enough to travel well and keep the players happy with nice food etc.
we should pay a coach millions when their sport is not losing money.

No doubt. Men’s college basketball is clearly number two nationally, If LSU hoops can return to the Brown or Wade days it’ll be number 2 on campus without question.
Still is for me, baseball is line watching paint dry .

They selling roughly 350,000 season tickets each year.
35 home games at 10,000 per game.
LSU would need to increase all season tickets by an average of $200 to make up that shortfall. Can make of some of that with sponsorships, increase costs on suites, increases in parking and concessions, etc.

It’s a question of scale.
There are many highschools were athletics are 10% of the overall budget, most of that as a loss.
To put LSU’s losses on the same scale it would be around 100 million.
