Mulkey is for sure a top 3 coach in WBB. You must make her say no.

And the people commenting if we want her bc she’s 58 obviously don’t watch her. She’s got many more years left. She’s 58 not 88 and she looks just as focused and hungry now as she did 20 years ago.

The poster you responded to is ridiculous.

Some of us have some decency. He's not that.

Unfortunately for Chinonyang he wastes his life (we only get one shot) viewing every scenario through a race prizm. It makes him utterly incapable of viewing Mulkey, Wade, etc. other than a privileged white elite taking a possible check and position from a less capable black person.

Ignore the nonsense, he has a walnut sized brain and thrives on the attention this board gives him. No post is capable of him seeing Mulkey as the best choice.

Aren't you the absolute hater of SJW Scotty?

Alleva caved to the nonsense. We may have the best duo of CBB coaches ever at LSU soon.

Nikki should not be a factor in anyway shape or form regarding how LSU proceeds with WBB.

Sign Mulkey and relieve Fargas of her duties immediately if necessary.

You realize if LSU fires her, they owe her a buyout. If she resigns, they don’t.

I’m surprised (if it is indeed Kim) she wants to take on a rebuild this late in her career.

If she’s not currently fulfilling her coaching obligations, that’s job abandonment.

This is actually an interesting dynamic. I really wonder which order this all happened:

1) It appears on the surface that Nikki "left" to go pursue the WNBA gig, and LSU has actively been looking for her replacement assuming she was gone.

BUT..could it actually be

2) Woodward has actually been after Mulkey all along and Nikki saw the handwriting on the wall and started looking for something else to do.

It is apparent that Nikki hasn't resigned or been fired because she is still listed on lsusports.net as being the coach. So if Mulkey gets hired, does LSU owe Nikki money?

If situation #2 above is the case, then LSU will obviously have to "fire" Nikki and pay her the buyout (Which I think is $200,000)

If situation #1 above is the case, then it could get interesting.

If Nikki let it be known that she was pursuing this other opportunity, but never actually resigned, is LSU still on the hook for her buyout? I mean, it is due diligence to go look for a replacement employee if one employee says they have another job lined up, right?

And how would Nikki play it? Would she go quietly or demand her buyout? I am very curious to see how it plays out.

Could Nikki play her cards such that maybe she has the WNBA gig lined up, but they are waiting to announce it so that LSU has to "fire" her?

If it is indeed number two, Woodward’s game plan is simple.

You fire Fargas for cause—job abandonment—and hire Mulkey.

Then you tell Fargas regarding the buyout, “See you in court.”

I think you are close; but typically how we have seen these types of things play out before is that Woodward likely had a conversation with Nikki that clearly laid out the writing on the wall.

Her buyout is not huge; so it would be more advantageous for her to paint a story that she is leaving LSU on her own terms to pursue other opportunities knowing she had some prospects in the WNBA. All the while, Woodward has moved forward with finding her replacement fully prepared to fire her if need be in the event she does not find another job to move on gracefully to.

Now the situation has come that she needs to close the deal on that new job or face being fired. I'd imagine that LSU is who let it leak to WAFB and others last week that she is resigning in order to apply the pressure and so that there wouldn't be any blowback if and when it started leaking that LSU was already pursuing other coaches.

I could see a timeline where Nikki's new job is announced today and then (if rumors are true), Mulkey is announced tomorrow.

TLDR: Woodward told Nikki, either find another job and bow out gracefully or be fired; but either way you're gone and I have a replacement in mind. Nikki has her timeframe to get it done and if she doesn't then Woodward will do what is needed to get his prime target (assuming they have accepted) sooner rather than later.

I agree with all that you have said. My question is this: I just wonder if Nikki elects NOT to bow out gracefully and forces LSU to fire her, therefore earning her an extra $200,000 in buyout money?

I am no doubt a hater of SJW scotty. I wasn't always though, I was all aboard bring Scott home he is the best but since coming home he hasn't done shite.

That doesn't mean Joe wasn't a pile of dog shite either. LSU has long struggled to have a good competent AD

She certainly could, I'm just saying that it is more advantageous for her to not do that and I think she realizes that.

I think she only forces LSU to fire her and pay her if she is unable to find another job to move to; but it is obvious from some of the news leaks that she is actively trying to go the route of leaving on her own terms.
