Is anything sacred? I'm sure the ball park is just fine in person, but it looks crappy with all the ads everywhere. Tony Chachere's, give me a break. Are we that hard up for cash?

Build a new park and then cover it with cheap banners.

You seem naive..

Where do you think we get a lot of the money for all the workout complexes, athlete centers, etc.?

Corporate sponsers.

We can do away with the ads, or cut them down, but hen we wouldn't have all the cool shite that student athletes like and base a big part of their decision to come here on.

Essentially, what I'm saying is: we could go back to being MSU or Ole Miss if you'd like to not look at ads.

Wow.

Every single major league park used to have ads on the fences; some still do. Most minor league parks have the same thing.

It captures the feel of the old parks before everything became cookie cutter parks. Look around the SEC and you'll see LSU and South Carolina have ball parks in the style of major league parks. Most of the others have 10-foot tall backstops behind home plate that look like softball stadiums. LSU did it the right way and our fans can't even appreciate it.

Not knocking you, though. Lots of people just don't get it.

i know you're getting bashed here but i agree. Tiger Stadium is the same way. I'm not saying no ads but it's pretty ridiculous. Also, everything in the radio broadcast is sponsored. Strike outs, plays in the red zone, three pointers. EVERYTHING is sponsored!

Yeah they definitely overdo it.

Pretty much everyone does it.

But others do it tastefully. I've been to every sec football stadium and tiger stadium FAR AND AWAY leads all others in ads.

Don't tell me we can't be competitive if we don't have the players benches on the sidelines sponsored by subway.

And we have these awesome ribbon boards that are used 99% of the time for ads. Show some frickin stats every now and then other than after the quarter.

You can do away with the ads at the stadiums, on the radio, on TV...

Just be prepared to pay $2,000 a ticket or $50 to listen to or watch the game at home.

Who said anything about doing away with ads?

And it already costs that for some tickets.

As far as the video boards everyone around me got pissed yesterday when they showed the highlight videos and you could actually see how much of the screen was ads before. I think your 50% estimate is correct.

LSU fits into the tacky "Wretched Excess" category when it comes to ads. There have to be ads, but not so many crapping up every square inch. Want to protest, then don't buy the product or patronize the offending business, then contact them to tell them so if you think there are too many ads everywhere. If I were the AD, I'd keep the advertising to minimum and confine it to one area. They would NOT be plastered all over everything.
