What was Bama’s excuse for barely beating Miss St?

Well, Bama's offense was only on the field for 20 minutes. State were able to convert on 3rd down and didn't turn the ball over. Seems like a recipe to struggle with an outmatched opponent.
Our offense on the other hand was a combined 3-22 on 3rd down against State and Troy and couldn't stay on the field. Go figure.

Insignificant? It literally says they ran a "mixture" of two different offenses and couldn't move the ball.
I can understand that point of view because Etling said it wasn't that big of a deal. But, what's he supposed to say? "Yeah, the coaches cost us the game by installing plays from a different coordinator?"
Like anything else, the truth probably lies somewhere in between. But, when the QB says they were running a mixture, it's a red flag in my book
The bottom line is that the entire LSU coaching staff got grossly outcoached in both losses. Let's hope they've learned from it and can use it going forward.

You need an excuse for winning?

It must suck to have a selective memory and totally forget that LSU had suspensions, injuries to key players, and players that were academically ineligible to play for that game......
It’s kind of like a first year coach Saban (at Bama) losing to the likes of ULM....without time to coach up his players...and recruit enough talent to win....

Are you seriously comparing the state of LSU's program when Orgeron took over to the one Saban took over in his first year at Bama?

How many of the players on that team do you think were recruited to and/or were going into that season thinking they had a realistic chance to compete for an SEC title?

Coach O inherited the same limitations that coach Saban had to deal with in his first year....at Bama....I totally agree....and yes I’m comparing the situation for both coaches.....that’s not the same as comparing the coaches themselves.....
Saban could not overcome his limitations and he lost at home to ULM.....but Bama knew that given enough time and given enough quality recruits, that Saban could pull Bama back into national contention.....
I don’t give a crap about the expectations for that year....what was coach O supposed to say....you know guys, we really don’t have enough talent and depth to compete for an SEC title this year....
You really think that would have been appropriate to say even if it was the (hidden) truth.....
Why does it feel like I’m surrounded by a bunch of idiots?

I don't know. Are you standing in a house of mirrors?

It’s amazing that Alabama had such vision seeing as how Saban was such a miserable failure in his previous college HC gigs

Uh, yes
Why didn’t coaches at Florida, A&M, MSU, Ole Miss, Arkansas etc say the goal was to win the SEC and make the CFP?

So you are putting the LSU's 2017 roster on par with Alabama's 2007 roster

Roster on paper and roster available for game time are not the same....
Yeah....I am comparing “AVAILABLE” roster for game time against Troy to Bama in Saban’s first year.....
I asked you before....where were you when they announced all the suspensions and injured starters...and academically ineligible players right before the Troy game and the Miss State game...???????
Answer the damn question!!!!

How many of LSU's 2nd and 3rd team do you believe would be starters for Troy. I would say a good bit.
Conversely, how many Troy starters would even get playing time at LSU. I would say maybe a handful. At most.
