While speaking to Marty Smith and Ryan McGee of the SEC Network, Brian Kelly revealed a surprising fact. Despite being a college coach since the 1980s, and an FBS head coach since 2004, he’s never coached a game at LSU’s Death Valley.

So, the first time he experiences a game at Death Valley, he’ll be roaming the sidelines as the Tigers’ head coach. However, to say Brian Kelly is excited for that first game would be an understatement. After years of coaching in historic stadiums, this is going to be one of the greatest environments the winningest coach in Notre Dame history has ever seen and he’ll undoubtedly be happy that the fans there are rooting for his team.

"It's gonna be one of the most explosive environments that I've ever been in."

Not trying to be a debbie downer Tiger Stadium hasn`t
been intimidating for a while.Coorporate money leaves early.
They have the best sideline seats.

Has any coach (at any program or even the NFL) ever not been on the sidelines but up in the booth? Only one I recall was Freeze but he was recovering from surgery.

Florida 2019, Auburn 2019, and TAM 2019 were all electric.

That’s not that far removed. If we were any good last year it would have been lit.

Why leave off the first part of the quote?

Still not a very surprising fact imo. The man has been coaching in the northeast/midwest for 30+ years.. so he has never played a game @ DV. Big deal. Clickbait title is click baity

Fans need to show the frick up this year. I was at the A&M game last year and I was actually embarrassed at how sparse our crowd was. That’s not the LSU I know and love. SHOW THE frick UP and STAY THE WHOLE GAME.

Sean Payton coached from the booth a number of years back after he suffered a knee injury by being run over on the sideline during a game…against Tampa maybe (the injury).

Anyone saying Death Valley isn't intimidating is off their rocker. We're loud as hell even when the stadium is 1/3 empty. Ask Auburn. The ol girl will be in true form this year.

Your not trying to be a Debbie downer but your totally being a Debbie downer.

Anytime LSU puts a competitive team together, Tiger Stadium roars to life just fine. Anytime Tiger Stadium host a big SEC competition, Tiger Stadium shows up.

As other posters said, 2019 had several good loud games then Coach O tanked us.

Exactly. Last year a lot of people left early at the ATM game but those that stayed were plenty loud enough and they got to see a great win.

This is a very en vogue take these days that is simply not true. If you go to a good game against a good team it cannot be beaten. Tiger Stadium is the best in the country.

Yes we were. What I don’t understand is why leave early when we are notorious for come-backs? Historically, blow-out losses are rare. I have sat through rain and bone-chilling cold to witness some of the best endings in Tiger Stadium history. What really gets me is when there’s only a few points difference in the score, either way, and people walk out. I’m always like “what the actual F”.
