Wade acknowledged it as well in his statement too
That wasn't Wade's statement. LSU wrote that nonsense and made him release it.

Wades lawyer wrote that

Possible. Regardless of who actually wrote it, I think that was part of the agreement to let him come back.

I wish but it’ll likely be Julyish of this year when he either steps down or fired. I’m fairly confident Alleva WILL NOT be the AD by the time fall semester starts
I can deal with that.

It's exactly what I would've expected from Alleva.

Herein lies the problem.. The only "allegations" were talking points in the media...
So we have a Chancellor and AD that confuse "optics" with allegations...
I expect more from leaders...
This is the whole reason Miles came back after 2015 instead of being fired. Optics.

I don’t know who the frick downvoted you, but that’s exactly right. Administration did everything but come out and say that verbatim as the reason why Miles was retained that year.

Was the shot by Alleva in the press release really necessary?
It is the kind of statement Alleva should have issued to the SEC after multiple officiating scandals. But he didn't. It is the kind of statement he should have issued to Birmingham after Alabama got repeated passes at UTenn and Vandy as their cross-conference opponents while LSU drew UF-UGA. But he didn't. It is the kind of statement Alleva should have directed at Florida after UF pulled the hurricane BS. But he didn't.
None of that was done.
Instead now, undoubtedly at FKingWeasel's direction or in his stead, Alleva publically belittles and bemoans our own coach's response to the clusterFK which FKing-Alleva unnecessarily set in motion. Just awful!

its an explanation
Given a successful culmination, FKing's CYA BS should have been shelved for once. The comments should have been positive. But like any insecure person, FKing is solely about CYA. It is all he knows.
CYA ""explanation"" or not, none of it changes the indisputable administrative incompetence LSU once again demonstrated and continues to demonstrate in this affair.

It was obviously somebody's idea of "damage control" and probably negotiated with Wade. The fact that it sounds clumsy, amateurish and out of touch shouldn't surprise anyone given the source.

Really tone deaf to include.

he University regrets that Coach Wade did not choose to fulfill his obligations to LSU when he was first asked to do so. However, the seriousness of the allegations and Coach Wade’s prior refusal to refute them could not be ignored without exposing the University and the basketball program to great risk. Protecting LSU and preserving our integrity must always be our first priority.
Not a damn thing wrong with that statement
You're out of your fricking mind, that's is a bullshite cya frick our coach and basketball program at least we have a cushy job statement, that is also disingenuous at best, if I ever heard one.
Tell your boyfriend Joe that he must go and to please frick off. Thanks in advance

No question - it way vintage Alleva CYA which is what he's been doing this whole time. I don't think it's going to work for him this time. I'm hearing he's going down.

Read some of his other statements. He’s said the same thing before. That is will Wade speaking

Let's review Will Wade speaking . . .
quote:
"I understand that in today’s hyper-intense media environment it is extremely difficult for any organization, particularly a public university, to stand firm in the face of rumors, leaks and innuendo. In this case, the simple truth is I have been placed on leave because I exercised my right not to submit to a joint LSU/NCAA interview on the exact same subject matter at issue in an impending federal criminal trial in New York. My legal counsel advised the University that it would be wholly inappropriate for me, or anyone, to submit to an interview under these circumstances."
"Declining to be interviewed was a difficult decision for me, as I would like to cooperate fully with all parties, particularly LSU. To be clear, however, all I’ve done is follow the prudent advice of counsel to exercise my constitutional rights to due process. Given these facts, I don’t believe it is appropriate for me to be relieved of my duties. We have a great basketball program made up of excellent student-athletes and quality coaches. The players who’ve given their all for this institution, the students and alumni who are devoted to LSU, and fans all across Louisiana and beyond deserve to see this team fulfill its destiny. I love LSU and everything it stands for. What I’m asking for is the right to do my job while exercising my constitutional rights. I don’t think that’s too much to ask."
Posted on 4/15/19 at 6:55 am to Jack Crevalle
No, it’s fair for him to say that. Wade is lucky to still have this job.
Posted on 4/15/19 at 6:59 am to Jack Crevalle
That statement sounds exactly like a sniveling 5 year old. “Well he started it, it’s not my fault.”
Joe Alleva is a spineless douche and needs to go. Frick him and FKing

I agree, It sounded to me like Alleva scripted Will Wade's response. Alleva needs to be gone.
