But, they aren’t undefeated, dumbass, so they have to show they are a good 2 loss team.

A couple of things need to be cleared up.

1. Did Brossette make the slide on his own or was he told to do so by the coaching staff.
2. If Brossette did it on his own then it is something he should be benched for. He could have easily scored on that play with very little chance of a fumble as all he had to do was wrap the ball up and beat one defender.

Our defense had crushed them all game. Why wouldn't you trust them to do it again on the following kickoff? The scenario that they get a quick score, do an onside kick and score again is ludicrous!

I sincerely hope there was nothing happening in this play but stupidity but it just made me lose even more faith in the offense.

Guess the AP and Coaches pole felt the same about the lackluster win.

Who knows. I like brossettes awareness and it was the smartest move. Personally, and even as a coach, I think I would have wanted to score.

This whole gambling aspect - we never want our coaches or players thinking about that stuff.

Coaches could have bailed NB out after he went down the first time. They could have been like oh I see what hes doing here, let's just run the clock out but nope they made him look really stupid by calling more runs, forcing him to do it again.

Whether they wanted him to score or get down should have been related to him. I blame this funky mess on the coaches.

WRONG!

Scoring a TD ends any chance of Arkansas winning! You forgot how much time was left on the clock!!!

Brossette did as he was coached to do.

What? He went down on the 6 rather than score. Coaches call a play to run, not kneel, and he goes down on the one. Right or wrong you run the fricking play the coaches call.

Not it doesn’t. Scoring a TD is most likely way they have a chance to win. Granted it was still an extremely low chance, but a chance none the less.

It’s very simple... nick ran off most of the clock until they were confident they had ran enough off and it’s time to score.

10 year olds do this to win on video games.. jesus people.

odds are, this exact scenario was not actually discussed.

probably was much more vague like “ok, let’s run out the rest of the clock”

in which case NB did exactly as he was supposed to do.
my issue is more with the next 2 snaps.
at that point should have been kneel downs.

Who cares how intelligent the play was. The lack miscommunication between players and coaches is unreal.

Also, we literally never finish drives in the red zone. Just get in there and make it seem like we somewhat won by a decent amount. Just step on the gas for once. Unreal

Yea, I am not giving NB that much credit man bc if he had score the game would've been put out of reach. That was an ignorant slide.

So far this season putrid Rice has allowed...
56 to Wake Forest
45 to Houston
40 to Southern Miss
42 to UAB
41 to North Texas
43 to Hawaii

Should be no trouble for a 7th Ranked team like LSU to score somewhere in this range?? At this rate with this conservative mindset it will be more challenging than it should be!

anyone recall this type "situation" taking place in a college game in years past?
why run a play at all if you only need to take a knee to run out the clock?
