Off to Gainsevulle. What a loss and we get to face him annually. Why would Nuss stay and burn a year watching single read quick hitches and scrambles? He can go play somewhere, too. Would actually make more sense for him to roll out than waiting for next year where CBK has made same PT promises to HIS new recruits. Writing is on the wall. BONNE CHANCE.

It would soften the blow if we could conclude that Howard leaving means that Nussmeier will play at LSU in 2023. Unfortunately, all we know is that Nussmeier will likely stay for Spring ball. The real catastrophe is obviously when Nussmeier bolts during the May transfer window. Then you're chasing back-up depth in the transfer portal to avoid the Daniels/Rickie Collins QB room.

Exactly. Which makes this even worse, but others will "laugh" when he's not starting elsewhere. It's not about starting, IMO. Not yet.

It shouldn’t matter one way or the other.
Is Walker a talented quarterback? Yes.
Should he get what he wants instead of what Kelly feels is in the best interest of his team? No.
I’m not saying that’s what’s going on but his entering the portal tells me he wants to play. Now.
He didn’t look very impressive when he played against Purdue and I understand he had very little playing time but I thought he’d look better than that.
In any event, not going to dump on the kid.
He evidently didn’t want to wait.

Just saying maybe he got promised a chance to win the QB spot. If a coach says the starter next year is Daniels, before spring game or anything, then it isn't exactly a chance. There's no competition.

Well Daniels is the starter until someone beats him out. I can damn sure tell you that packing up after a redshirt season that Howard and his Dad both requested is not competing and is soft as it gets.

Overall in the long run you will be better off sticking with the players you recruit and grad transfer vs trying to keep your entire roster happy every year while division rivals are calling them offering them $100s of thousands to play against you.
