Every sport would lose money if it weren’t for tv revenue. More realistically, the financial structure of athletics would be vastly different.
If you don’t think men’s BB is leaving a ton of money on the table in terms of ticket sales by being below mediocre, then I don’t know what to tell you.

Even better for the ones that call Wade a cheater then toss out Sampson. Even though he has been cheating since before Wade could walk

It’s kind of a strange beat when you start to did into the numbers. We saw a huge ticket spike in 2018 which wasn’t a great season while also experiencing a big drop in expenses between 2016 and 2020. You look at McMahon’s salary being higher than or nearly identical to a top 5-10 national coach. You can find teams that don’t spend much on NIL but win a ton. There are a lot of ways you can streamline basketball while maintaining success especially compared to the last 4 years.

They’re also the posters who mention about 3 possible candidates who combined have a 0% chance of coming here because they don’t know any college coaches they don’t see on ESPN highlights in late March.
My three, tell me if these are 0% chance. I think you may have actually pointed me toward Eric Olen, but my old brain is always suspect.
Josh Schertz (Saint Louis)
Jerrod Calhoun (Utah State)
Eric Olen (UC San Diego)

I like those guys especially Schetz but I’ve started watching Matt Braeuer at SFA. He’s 40, it’s his first year as a HC, he’s 24-3 taking over a 14-17 team, he was on Texas Techs staff previously, played for Gregg Marshall at Wichita State and his teams look pretty impressive. Kinda growing on me actually.

I’m not saying every LSU fan needed to attend LSU, but if you attended LSU, you want LSU to succeed, regardless of particular interest in any sport or endeavor. Most display none of that.

I’ve also have talked the last few weeks about how Bama MBB has gone from where we are now to making 4-5x the profit in MBB over the course of a few years. They’re not interested in educating themselves. They have an opinion - and as flawed and erroneous as it is - they’re sticking with it. It’s the purest sign of intelligence.

I can’t tell if they’re serious? lol there’s zero chance he leaves NC state to return to the school that fired him

I will bet 0 and if he comes back, you owe me everything you own.
I like when people without any knowledge deal in absolutes. It's a favorite of mine.

Let’s ignore everyone involved in his firing has been fired and friends of his now are the president and the head of the board

LSU MBB isn't some important worldly thing, but imagine going through life like that and how much more difficult it makes it on the rest of us.

Wade will get the first call , it’s his job if he wants it .
I don’t see any realistic name out there that would generate instant excitement for the fans and donors except for him .

This isn't like getting fired as a cook at Red Lobster and proclaiming "no way in HELL I'm going back there, by golly!!"
This is a major college hiring for a major sport. With all of the idiots gone that blocked his return a year ago. At a school where the fan base is begging for his return, Wade being familiar with the school and boosters.
You might want to project where each school will be financially in the near future as well. It would be miraculous if NC state was anywhere near as competitive financially as LSU shortly.
Your knee jerk reaction "I ain't nevah going back to this bitch" doesn't apply in situations like this.

I doubt we get a “big name” coach but there will be more interest just by getting rid of McMahon. If we hire a good coach there will be excitement year 1. Look at WW, year one with an unknown coach ticket sales improved by 300k for a basketball team with an 18-15 record that only made the NIT.

If Schroyer lands at LSU, we have a great chance.

If it’s not Wade or a big name, it may be Matt.
