Which would be BS if true. They signed/transferred to Tenn to play under Vitello. If he makes a move this late in the game, they should have a window to decide if they want to stick around for whoever steps up internally (too late to do a true coaching search)

Other coaching changes have happened at this time of year (or later) and players weren't granted immediate eligibility.

Definitely not his plan but it’s conceivable it plays out like that.

It is. But only because they'd be offering the biggest number, not because of any perceived loyalty to them.

He's no more loyal to them then he is TCU, or now Mizzou after they passed on hiring him.

I dont like him as well but you can't deny the fact he is a damn good baseball coach. He can evaluate talent well, develop it, and is a very good gameday coach. I could see him being successful in anything he does to be honest. I am glad he is leaving UT..

lol that guy (and many others) were on twitter pretending to be giants fans saying they (the giants) didn't want Tony.

Was a pretty funny bit. Here are some of the best ones:

He was retiring after this year anyway. They had hired a guy in an off field role that was set to take over.

They're going to promote Elander, who has been running a lot of the day to day stuff and is technically their Recruiting Coordinator. Kivett will probably be the recruiting coordinator.

None of these guys have any interest being in a major league dugout?

I know baseball assistants are very, very different from football assistants, but would it really be that shocking?

Also, some Tenn people are saying that it's not a lock that Elander gets the job. I know you've got some sources there but am curious to see how this plays out.

While I'm happy that this helps LSU a ton, it is kind of sad to see little brother venture off on his own out into the world like this. I also hope this doesn't start a trend of successful college coaches heading to the pros. Irrespective of Jay, I like that college baseball coaches are college baseball coaches, and don't take these jobs as stepping stones to the next level.

He's more qualified for it than Earley was to get A&Ms job. They'd be idiots not to hire him. My sources were on Tony's side, so I don't know for sure what Tennessee will do.

You underestimate the stupidity of Danny White.

The idea of you and Tony being pals while this entire board (myself included) have shite on him for years, and you've just lurked in the shadows, is very funny.

Maybe you and Burreauxx can exchange numbers and facetime during giants games.
