Does the basketball program pay for itself? If it does, then politics has nothing to do with this. If the boosters can't afford to chip in the change to buy him out, then look to Shaq and other former NBA players that still bleed purple and gold to pay for it.
The biggest mistake that Alleva made was getting Jones' salary to the level it currently is when he hadn't earned it yet.
