Hi Guys,
Ten of us that went to college together are coming down in November for the Patriots vs Saints Monday Night Football game, and having grown up in the Northeast we decided one thing we have to do on the trip before we get too old is experience a real college football tailgate and game. We are driving rental cars from New Orleans to Baton Rouge for the Saturday night game against Arkansas.
We have hotel reservations and tickets, so all set there, but I'm looking for any tips for game day that we need to know. What time would you say to show up for a night game? I'm sure we're be able to find a place to buy booze but what about a place to actually go and tailgate? If there's somewhere we can pay to set up shop for the day we'd be all for that, not looking to freeload or anything along those lines just it's unlikely that any of us take a grill with us on the plane. We had Fred's and The Varsity Theater recommended to us for bars to go to after the game but any suggestions there are appreciated also.
I'm sure I'm asking some stupid questions but any and all recommendations are very much appreciated, thanks.

Depending on yall age, I don't know about going to Freds. I would probably recommend the bulldog.

If you visit the French Quarter, don't go past Esplanade Ave without an AK47 or they will know you are tourists.

Plan to be in BR by noon.
Come back the week before that game and post again and you will be better and more specific information and maybe some tailgate invites.
At a minimum plan to see the band walk down the hill.

Get to campus no later than 11am for a 7pm kickoff. You will want to adjust this accordingly if the time gets changed for TV. You can pretty much set up anywhere. Just bring you some beer and drinks. most ppl will welcome you to their tailgate.

Try to get to LSU campus by noon.
Get off at the Acadian Thruway Exit and take a right at Perkins Rd and stop at Zippys. Get a large Redneck Daquiri (Basically a Beam and Coke Icee). First few sips are rough but it will kick the day off right.
Find the closest place to park and just walk to campus. Walk around and just enjoy the sights and sounds.

not sure if you are aware of this.... BUT, the LSU vs. Arkansas game is always on the Friday after Thanksgiving. So if you were planning on seeing this on saturday, that won't happen. It is listed as saturday for now, until the TV station officially changes the date and time. the arkansas game is usually a 1pm kickoff, so in the event that you DO make the game, you'll want to be to campus for early morning (8 or 9am) to really experience tailgating. just an FYI... hope you get to see it though!

A group of UF fans are buying parking (car) tickets at Alex Box West. Is this a garage or lot? Is it a good location? cost $50 / car.
Anyone know anything? Thanks.

I thought the Auburn-Bama game was moved to Friday this year.

The LSU v. Arky game has indeed been moved to Saturday this year. This was announced this summer some time.

Just buy a cooler on wheels, fill it with beer and liquor, buy something LSU to wear (hat, shirt, etc...) and just walk around... you'll be offered more food and drink than you could have ever imagined. Have to catch the band coming down the hill, even if you're not an LSU fan, it'll give you goosebumps!!! Enjoy yalls stay and Geaux Tigers!
And the Saints will BEAT the Pats by a touchdown...u can book that and bank it baby!!!
