For Friday night, go to the overpass area on Perkins Road. The Overpass Merchant for drinks and great bar food then across the street to Ivars for more drinks. Zippy's down the street for burritos and daiquiris if that's your thing. Many will say Bogies and I guess that's an option. I stopped going there after I turned 21. It's the fratty bar.

Around noon you should be heading to campus. City Slice and The Chimes are good spots right by campus to hit for food and drinks. Otherwise, I advise filling an ice chest with brewskis and walking around campus. If you and your friends aren't mega douche bags you will almost certainly be invited to join in the fun at a number of tailgates with food, drink, etc.

Friday nite there are plenty of bars to hit, for food the same with restaurants. For Sat, possible bad weather, bring your rain gear or get the cheap parkas on sale all over campus. With good weather, wear your Moo St. shirts and walk around, there will be plenty of
tail gate food and drinks. No glass cups or bottles.Bring your I.D as cops are cops everywhere. Get there early and before noon is not early

Agree.
For a 6pm game, I'd get there around 1030 and go to the Varsity and watch Gameday. Put your name in for lunch at Chimes (attached to Varsity) about an hour and half before you want to be seated.

A few good options for Friday night bar hopping:
Bogies - fratty, college bar near campus
Downtown - 3rd street, several bars to choose from - Happy's is always a good time.
Overpass area on Perkins road - Grab Zippy's for dinner & Overpass Merchant, Ivar's for drinks. Duvic's if you enjoy martinis and a lowkey, smoky atmosphere.
You're bound to have a good time at any of these options.

Go visit Mike the Tiger. Talk to the trainers, they'll let you in the cage. You can pet him! And be sure to pack a few treats for him. Load your pockets with steaks. He'll love you!

The few places to go have already been listed. Baton Rouge sucks for young adults after college.
Enjoy!

I manage to have a good time. Obviously it's not New Orleans but there are plenty of good times to be had.

Bogies and Tigerland (multiple bars) are the college hangouts near campus.
If you're looking for a little older crowd (22-40), the Perkins Rd. area (under the Overpass) has some good restaurants and bars clustered together. Parrains is a good casual seafood restaurant. The Overpass Merchant is a cool hangout with good food. The only downside is it's somewhat small. FWIW, I recall seeing a ton of MSU fans there last time MSU played LSU in baseball.
On Saturday you could get on campus by 12 and try to hit various tailgates. If you don't want to tailgate all day, try walking over to Chimes St. and Highland Rd. (the north gates of LSU's campus). The Chimes is an LSU institution with lots of beer and "Louisiana food" (po-boys, gumbo, red beans and rice, etc.). Just know it gets VERY crowded on game day. If you don't want to go to the Chimes, there are other restaurant/bars in that area.

On Friday night Fred's will have free drinks starting at either 7pm or 8pm.
Older college crowd kind of bar.
