Possible but isn’t he just coming off of surgery? Wonder where his stamina is at. That might be the plan just may be a couple more weeks away from it.

Yes, he had a damn rib removed. Sounds extensive but I'm no doc. Props to the young man for getting back from that alone.

I don't see the pitches for a starter. His changeup is beautiful, and UNO looked silly chasing it, but once they laid off he struggled a little.

I think his role is to relieve the starter when he gets into a mid to late inning jam, get us out of trouble, then give us another inning or two before handing the ball to Hess or the setup man.

Edit to say I hadn't realized he was the guy who had the rib removed. Maybe he just needs a little more conditioning. That change is sweet, though.

It's called Thoracic Outlet surgery. A rib is removed because it causes problems with pitching. It's become pretty common. Brandon McCarthy, Jaime Garcia, Michael Wacha, and several other MLB pitchers have had the surgery in their careers.

I've only seen him throw 2 pitches so far. Hard to get through a lineup more than once with only 2 pitches. Bullpen guy his where he needs to stay.

92 is the fastest pitch I've seen him throw.

He's made into the 2nd time thru the order in both appearances so far. He's not gone entirely thru twice yet, but he's face 8 batters for a second time so far. Only one has reached base (on an error). He's struck out 2 of the 8.

Small sample size definitely, but it's encouraging.

He looked super pissed after that home run. I wondered if that would affect him.
Looks like it didn’t.

Very high energy/emotion guy. After the little players swaying and running out he was jumping up and down and screaming on his way back to the dugout.
So, yeah

Vietmeier? He gave up a homerun, didn't he?

Yes. To the 9th batter of his first time thru the order against UNO.
