1. Les has a $15 million buyout.

2. Assts have 2 millón more in buyouts.

That is 17 million for the barners on the board.

oh, and 5 million large to us for Jimbo.

22 MILLION!!!! STOP IT MY RIBS. All the while LSU is still considering bankruptcy.

MY RIBS MY RIBS.

Oh, but LSU has SEc money. Texas is the only school that would not feel severe pain at 22 million in buyouts.

Oh, and there is a political reality of a school telling contractors, vendors and taxpayers (not to mention voters) that it cannot pay for basic services associated with the school but has 17 million for buyouts-whether private money or not.

When Sexton does his mass emails saying LSU is coming after Jimbo we can all laugh.

What is says is not wrong.

The buyout does not get paid by the school. Donors do that

Link is dead. Thread got whacked?

The alleged payout is spread out over time.

TAF bond money is not the same as the schools coffers regardless of what the "public perception" is.

You don't understand the basics. The buyout would not come from taxpayer dollars. It would come from private individuals. I'm not saying it will, or is likely to, happen, but all it takes is one LSU fan with a few hundred million, and it's done. And I know several LSU fans with a half billion or more.

You might as well reason that $22 million is too much because China has a budget shortfall.

How is it that people still don't understand the financial separation between the university and the athletic department?

This is an opportunity to educate, pro-actively. We need to make it clear that the LSU Athletic Department has a net positive effect on the LSU academic institution. Make it clear that the TAF booster, independent of LSU the institution, are paying the 22 Million.

Dear Lord, you guys almost seem like Democrat operatives. You cannot process logically without the temptation to tell a deception narrative.

What is laughable is to think that you cannot disassociate LSU's academic money issues from the LSU football boosters independent pocket books.

Sad, and even more laughable to outline what you are expressing.

the money in the athletic department is completely separate than the rest of the university. I don't like how we are so willing to spend millions of a coach when the university is struggling, but this is the facts of the case. TAF is separate from the university the people with a lot of money can afford this buyout.

Actually that is exactly what happened....if you follow smoke signals like most on here do. Apparently a large Booster from the Shreveport area has agreed to pay all of it apparently. I'm guessing he is from the little area between Ruston and Shreveport....and I'm not going to throw any names out...but not a bad little course up there....ha.

1. Les' buyout is payable over 8 years

2. Cam's contract expires after this season(no buyout) Frank and O will LIKELY be retained by new coach or take HC jobs elsewhere (no buyout). Raymond has a good chance at being retained by new coach (no buyout if retained)

Also, in each case, the individual is REQUIRED (by contract) to seek other employment in similar jobs and the amount of pay they receive in the new job mitigates the amount owed in buyouts.

Happy Thanksgiving

. I understand what you are saying about private vs public dollars but it is still very sad about our priorities as a society . If we are willing to accept that kind of a huge private donation to pay off a very foolish commitment for a potentially questionable move in its own right you can't help but be critical of the donors as to why they don't spend their money in much better ways to help the university and/or much better causes in general.

Even if you separate the two worlds the fantasy land sports world from the real world, doing this isn't very smart in EITHER world. I find it hard to believe that someone who is smart enough to make that kind of money honestly would be willing to part with it so foolishly.

My lord. Anyone who uses this, one cannot argue against as they are too ignorant to see past this. Therefore, I shall not waste my time with you.

What does one have to do with the other? The school would still be struggling financially regardless what it pays a football coach.

I have no doubts we'd pay to get it done if we have the chance, I just wonder if we're going after the wrong target. Herman will be a guy a lot of people wish they didn't miss out on.

I'm not going to debate it, but it's more of an attitude that we put millions of dollars into athletics while the university crumbles around the athletic program. Couldn't those boosters also give some money back to the university?

I understand TAF and the university budget are completely different, but I just don't like how we throw millions of dollars at sports but let academics go by the wayside.
