I don't think so. Jim Henderson responded to the tweet saying that the university is actually aware and that their branding falls in line with that.

Not true though. They cried to ESPN for a long time before they changed. Jerseys all say Louisiana. Endzone says Louisiana and has a hedge display saying UL.

They may have, as that memo is from 1998. However, the way I found said memo was through a link in this article written in 2013. So, if it changed, it changed in the last half decade, but the push from ULL has been going on for far longer than that.

I'm fine with them going by UL if there is an asterisk that notes they are, indeed, not the flagship university of Louisiana.

USL, ULL, or University of Lafayette are all perfectly acceptable.
But the LSU envy of Louisiana or University of Louisiana are NOT acceptable.
