Who knows what happens this year, but I love where the program is headed overall.

Yep.
LSU has 2 losses… both on the road, both to Top10 teams. Both games hinged on a late 2-point conversion, one in overtime. One game it’s our own inexplicable decision not to go for a 4th and 1 is likely why we lost.
It’s absolutely true that LSU has little, if any, margin for error left in 2026, but at the moment LSU is still good… Not sure that’s true anymore for Texas and Bama. 2026 season aside, LSU is definitely good moving forward as a program past 2026 regardless how this season plays out IMO.
Nothing against Auburn and Tennessee, both will be very difficult games to win, but LSU’s two toughest remaining games are in TigerStadium. LSU will be favored in all its remaining road games. LSU likely gets is superstar on offense and its superstar on defense back in November.
The last time LSU lost an overtime game in Lexington, we were a 2-loss national champion three months later. Just sayin.

Ole Miss and Kentucky with the 6th and 11th ranked offenses had no problem with our #1 defense.

It amazes me that people have turned on Baker.

Oh no! Lane sucks! Blake Baker sucks!

Wow! LSU must be undefeated with those rankings. I mean, in no way would they have lost to teams who rank 10 and lower in both categories.

That’s all fine and dandy, but we are sitting on 2 loses. Unit rankings don’t matter if you are losing games.

This bodes well for our future

False, if Arch is still QB by the time LSU plays Texas, Tennessee is a harder opponent, especially on the road.
Arch for how incredibly average he is, is their biggest weakness

Also, the last time we shutout a conference opponent was 2007.

Disagree. Road games are obviously this teams weakness. AU and TN are gonna be the 2 toughest. Bama always seems to do well in TS so that one is in there too.

#1 offense
#1 defense
Midway point of season only losses are 1 possession losses against top 15 teams on the road. Only thing keeping me from saying we haven’t exceeded expectations to this point is not going for the 1 yard to win against Kentucky
Overall solid B+ grade on midterm

Yes, wins and losses matter more than these rankings. But, these stats show that this team is heading in the right direction. Both of those losses were on the road. They were both very tight games. Yes, we have to be better in certain areas, such as turnovers. Yes, that Grand Canyon-sized hole I. it vs UK was atrocious. But this team is also doing a lot of things right that they didn’t do right last year and prior. Being a rational fan requires recognizing both the good and the bad, not just the good, and definitely not just the bad.
This team is headed in the right direction. They need to LEARN how to win on the road, in tough environments.

I’m talking point spread to objectively measure opponent difficulty.
LSU is a 5.5 favorite at Auburn
LSU-Bama will be a pickem +/-3
LSU Texas will be LSU favored by 2-6
LSU-Tenn LSU will be favored by 4-8
By no means am I saying Aub/Tenn are easy wins…Absolutely not. But it’s a fact that Texas and Bama are the 2 best rosters we will face the rest of this season, both games at home.
It goes without saying we need to get the road monkey off our back. Obviously. That starts at Auburn, probably catching Auburn at a great time riding high off the UGA win without the horses for week-to-week consistency… and in the morning.

Tennessee probably has the most favorable remaining schedule in the entire SEC. They’re 6-1 and should be favored in every game left on their schedule. If they keep winning and get to 9-1 they’ll probably be FG favorites at home against us.
