Thanks for List.

Yeah some players will be leaving I know we all expect Harris and Chestnut not being here by spring time and a few more.

That's alot of Olineman sheesh and need some more bodies on DT.

Great job compiling an accurate roster. Its gotten to be like the NFL and some cuts will have to be made.

This roster is solid and a start to winning a Natty when the 2025 class is in. However, it needs 2 more DT where I could see lose 2 get 2 with better quality, and another swap out for a stud CB and 1 current CB goes to the portal.

That leaves us still at 92, so lets say we get Dom, Bussey and Echols to get to 95 players, then we have to have 10 leave. See below just a guess who may go as they will be replaced by better players

3 CB (Chestnut and Harris, maybe JK if not recovered from injury)
2 WR (Ibieta, Prean)
2 OL (Makaneole, Lunsford)
1 LB (C Bratwaite)
1 DE (P. Shand)
1 Safety (Burns can go pro)

Then, with this remaining roster plus 2025, gives us a title in either 2026 or 2027

Prean will likely play CB in the bowl game. If he does well, he'll likely move to that position.

To get to 85 we might see a special teams cut.

Super seniors don't count against the 85 limit.

There was only a one year grace period when Super Seniors did not count against the 85 man limit in football. Beginning in 2022 Super Seniors have counted against the 85 limit. So no relief there.

Knoxville Newa article on Super Seniors

"Super seniors did not count against a team’s limit of 85 scholarship players last season, allowing veterans one more year to improve their stock and help their college program without hamstringing the team’s scholarship count.

The NCAA should make this change permanent: Award a super-senior year of eligibility without counting super seniors among a team’s 85-scholarship limit.

No such permanent shift has been embraced, however. Instead, 2021 was a one-year grace period. Super seniors will count against a team’s 85-scholarship limit beginning this season."

I thought Emery might be eligible for another year b/c of the injury?

I think with Emery it will be if he can count his suspension year as a redshirt year. I do not know if that is allowed. With an injury redshirt, there is still a restriction on games participated in, Emery would not meet that criteria being injured in the last game of the season.

You're correct. I'll edit my previous post to clear any confusion.

We terribly need DTs

Dang if Smith and Mingo Leave which is a huge possibility we are hurting real bad. To top it off in the SEC you need talent at this position not just bodies. We need a top DL coach that can recruit in the worst way.

Just glad to see we will have a full roster. The numbers Kelly inherited were pitiful.

Pretty sure we had some baseball players do this. NIL covered their tuition plus a lot more. Gave up their scholarship to other players not getting much NIL or no NIL at all

That's because there's only about 1/3 the amount of scholarships to roster players in baseball. There's zero chance this would be allowed in football. Too many teams would take advantage of it. It's why 2-sport athletes's scholarships have to count as a football scholarship. You could be the best basketball player on the team and a 3rd string TE on the football team, but your scholarship counts towards the football's 85. Coaches like Bear Bryant were getting extra football players by putting them on basketball, track, swimming, whatever, scholarships, even if they didn't play those sports. There may be a loop hole right now (I doubt it or it seems we'd have heard about it), but it would get closed real quick.

When do we actually have to be down to the 85? What's the hard date? Take Duce Chestnut for example. He clearly wasn't happy with his playing time and quit after 4 games so he could preserve his redshirt and eventually transfer. And I'm sure he wants to graduate 1st so he can transfer anywhere. What if he doesn't graduate till May? Surely we can have 86 guys until he officially leaves and gives up that spot, right?

Beginning of fall camp when scholarship roster needs to be filed with the powers that be.

Shand is very solid and at a position where depth is premium - highly doubt he goes anywhere
