1 if he doesn't redshirt, which he probably won't
Again, why wouldn't he?

that would be another year he has to sit out, he can't RS if he's not on the team. That'd be 2 years w/o football

I've gotten about 20 minutes worth of work done since Thursday fwiw.
I'm feeling ya
I realize I have this strange kind of protective feeling about Tyrann, completely seperate from my feelings about LSU football fortunes, like he is one of my kids, like I just want to will this to turn out well for him. I want him to be okay, I want good things for him, I want his story to end in triumph.

I have another quick question: Who created this three-strike rule in the first place?
It is hard to tell Origins of Baseball

Then it is 100% Alleva's call to let him back on if he sits out for a year?
I'm sure Miles has a say, but again Alleva is the boss. If Alleva says yes I would assume it would then go to Miles to make the final choice.

University rule in the student handbook. Applies to everyone.

The "can't redshirt if not on team" line is completey and totally false. This would count as his redshirt year, no one is suggesting he sits out 2012 and redshirts in 2013.

Comeback story of the year and LSU receives positive praise for helping out a troubled superstar player
LSU better play their cards right...this could turn into a HUGE positive pr stunt for them.

Living in Northwest Arkansas it is truly amazing how many Arkansas fans are glad that the kid was kicked out of LSU. And now they are calling out Miles saying "he was permanently kicked out," and he is going back on his word for a elite player.
It honestly and truly amazes me how many people want to see a 20 year old kid fail.

Ok so then it IS a school issue, and the school administration is the entity which has imposed the year-long suspension.
Why then would Alleva have any say whatsoever? If the school says he can play athletics, and Miles lets him back on the team, what does Alleva have to do with any of this?

UPDATED 3:07 p.m. ET: A source close to Mathieu has disputed Schad’s report, telling the New Orleans Times-Picayune that a return to LSU “would not be happening.” The source went on to tell the paper that Mathieu hopes to have a transfer decision made by Wednesday, and that, right now, McNeese State is the only viable option. Mathieu visited the FCS school over the weekend.

That's been posted to the OP. We are aware. Apparently there is a lot of conflicting information out there right now.

No, the other poster worded it wrong. It is an athletic department policy that applies to student athletes. Not a University policy that applies to all students.
