To be fair, LSU radio sounds very similar with the confidence for LSU

Radio guys are homers

And this is a huge option. Joe has extended many drives this year with his legs.
Of course, Laurence can run also, so that might be a wash.

3: They were in admiration of OSU’s physicality and said LSU is nowhere near as hard hitting as OSU or themselves!

A more likely explanation is that Ohio is typical of the physical play in the Big 10 and SEC, and Clemson had gotten use to the sissy play in the ACC. They are going to experience more of the same from LSU.

OSU need not look over physical to me. It was like watching Auburn play LSU. Difference, OSU was laying wood and Clemson was not. LSU would have hit back as they did.

I didn't see anywhere in that original post about their plan to stop Burrow, besides saying they will "get to him". They better be spot on with their defense scouting, because I've yet to see anyone capable of "getting to Burrow" in 2 seconds. I am by no means overconfident, but I found that to be lacking in that radio hosts' gameplan.

So they’re underrating our defense because of a fluke game and Delpit’s mediocre start to the season (he’s gotten better as he’s gotten healthier, and so has the defense in a huge way).

Nevermind that we’ve got one of the best run defenses in the country, and across from stingley is a man who is so good at corner, you forget he exists.

OSU and ClemPson play good, hard defense. Maybe those two D’s play harder, but they’ll be surprised how hard our defense hits. I think they score some, move the ball for sure. But we’ll get more stops than they realize.

Meanwhile, defensively, they have to hope to confuse Burrow (good luck) and get consistent pressure with 3-4 man rushes (he can still scramble and throw on the run) in the hopes of forcing turnovers.

Their defensive scheming is perhaps the best in the country. But IMHO, the only chance they have is to cover every receiver every play. Coverage sacks. I don’t see it happening consistently with our scheme and WR’s, TE’s, and CEH.

Stopped at Walt Deptula. Guy is an idiot. First mistake you made listening to him. Second the station is three miles from campus did you expect to hear an intelligent and objective opinion from a small time local call in show? These guys don’t know anything. Coaches aren’t telling them information. They are just making stuff up to get listeners.

They believe they can run for over 200 yds easily because of ole piss tape and Lawrence/Ettienne

Put down the crack pipe and back away slowly. No freakin' way they get 200 yards on the ground....among all of them.

Thanks for the post! The Delpit 'observation' lets me know that they're not looking hard enough; most of his poor play came from trying to play hurt this year. He's come on since getting healthy.

I saw a post the other day talking about how Clemson copied Auburn when they formed their football program and that's why they are called the Tigers. Based on those notes and other comments that I have heard, I'm thinking their plan is to copy Auburn again and try to do what they did. Not a bad idea, that was the closest that any team has come to beating s and it almost worked. IF they can do what Auburn did and hold us to 23 points, their offense will win them the game.

And if my aunt had balls, she would be my uncle.

I do expect them to stunt and to bring pressure. I also expect a "bend but don't break" approach on defense to limit us to FGs. In the red zone, things are compressed and so, in theory, it should make it easier on the defensive backs and LBs to defend against LSU's passing attack. And, Venables is an excellent DC.

That all said, as good as LSU was back in October when they played Auburn, they were still working out some kinks in the new system and they were still growing. This offense is not the same offense that we saw against Auburn, they have been essentially an NFL offense in November and December. And, scary thought, they are healthy. And you think that Clemson is good at finding "Waldo"? Our OCs have been nothing short of masterful in QUICKLY identifying the opposing D's weaknesses and exploiting them. They move quickly on offense so that you don't have time to adjust while also making their own adjustments.

And then there is Joe. Even when you call the right defense, he will burn you. He is cool, calm and accurate.

And I HOPE that they are wasting their time on film of the Ole Miss and Texas games. Like the offense, this is not the same defense that we saw for the first 2/3 of the season. They have finally put it all together and are healthy.

At risk of sounding like a homer, I have LSU by 14.

2: They have identified “Waldo” the weak link to exploit on our defense..... they say Jacoby Stevens cant cover, athletic but no ball skill to track passes. Clueless was word used.

He's actually pretty damn good at it for a OLB/Safety hybrid. I'm sure they are making that assessment based on the one catch by Lamb where he was actually blanketing CeeDee, but didn't turn around in time for the ball and Lamb made an NFL level catch in tight coverage.

Stevens is one of our best defenders all-around and has 3 picks on the year.

I would be interested to hear LSU sports talk radio’s analysis as well.
