Upcoming Campus Developments (new library renderings included)

I compiled a list of projects that’re either under construction or in the works around campus. Most of the info is taken from the prioritized 5-year capital improvement plan LSU submitted to the state legislature in 2024, which should give you a general idea what changes you can expect around campus in the near future.
Feel free to share any scoop you may have as well.
1. OLOL Interdisciplinary Science Building - construction phase (projected completion 2025)
The new facility will be located at the site of the old dairy store which was demolished last year. It’ll feature a 250-seat lecture hall, classrooms, research labs, and the Shell Institute for Energy Innovation.
The Food Science Building (yellow building below) was recently renovated and is temporarily housing the dairy store until this new science building is built.
2. New Library Commons – design phase (projected completion 2027)
Middleton to be demolished and the quad will be returned to its original state. The new library will be built at the corner of South Stadium and Field House Drives and will face a newly formed South Quad.
The board will vote on the systematic designs below tomorrow.
3. Construction & Advanced Manufacturing Building – design phase (projected completion 2027)
The building will be constructed south of Tiger Stadium (red outlined building below) and will face this new South Quad. It will house the Bert S. Turner Dept. of Construction Management in addition to enhanced research labs, classrooms, and common areas.
4. Indian Mounds – design phase (projected completion 2026)
The project includes new pathways, additional landscaping, and interpretive signage around the mounds.
5. AgCenter Food Innovation Center (FOODii) – construction phase (projected completion 2026)
The existing building will be renovated to triple its bottling capacity in addition to increased space for additional kitchens, an industrial freezer and cooler, a loading dock, classroom and conference spaces, and a storefront.
The incubator educates/supports entrepreneurs in areas such as product development, food testing/labeling, marketing, packaging, and food safety, while also giving LSU students the hands-on experience in food production.
6. New Sports & Entertainment Arena – design phase (projected completion 2028)
A new sports and entertainment arena that would replace the PMAC. Initial reports propose a broader mixed-use entertainment district for the surrounding area, with a new hotel, retail and office space, and a new research park.
Below is a preliminary plan conducted for initial traffic studies so I assume you can expect something similar.
7. Emerging Technology Building – construction phase (projected completion 2025)
The Emerging Tech Building is being renovated to house the newly formed Military & Security Sciences Center. One of Tate’s strategic initiatives is to become a national leader in cybersecurity and military studies. The building will house the Department of Military Science, the Institute for Advanced Military and Defense Studies, and an enhanced ROTC program.
8. LSU Lakes – construction phase (projected completion 2026)
Multiphase project includes dredging the various lakes, the construction of an elevated bridge on May St, and new pathways/landscaping.
9. Greenhouse Head House – design phase (projected completion 2027)
A new dining common in the Greenhouse District which will feature two restaurants just outside Camellia and Azalea Halls where the dilapidated greenhouse currently sits.
10. Delta Gamma House - current house undergoing an extensive renovation (projected completion 2025)
11. Delta Zeta House - building a new house (projected completion 2026)
12. Delta Tau Delta House – building a new house on the vacant lot beside TKE.
13. Phi Mu House - current house undergoing an extensive renovation/expansion (projected completion 2025)
Feel free to share any scoop you may have as well.

Thank you for the fantastic posts. The transformation of campus has been incredible. It was great seeing renderings of more to come!
Posted on 2/20/25 at 5:56 pm to GeorgeReymond
yeah none of this will ever happen

Is dtd on campus now?
When I first got there they were barely hanging on and eventually shut down.

These are great. LSU is a beautiful campus with some awesome architecture.
That said, Gen. Middleton's name should be on the library. Guy did more for LSU than single person.

All these beautiful plans and Tureaud still holding strong as a steaming pile of shite in the middle of it all.

It is a shockingly more efficient use of space than it has been. It was always a beautiful campus at its core, but they have done a damn good job in modernizing things while at the same time, keeping/returning the campus to its original design.
I am really jacked to see the Quad once Middleton is gone and its returned to its original concept. Once completed, you should be able to stand on the steps of Hill Memorial, look across the Quad to the Tower, see the parade ground in the background and the steps of the Law school in the distance.
The only complaint is I wish they had kept more of the traditional Spanish architecture in the proposed new buildings. I realize they have done it somewhat, but it could be better, especially in the new library. Regardless, it is still looks amazing.

They plan on demolishing it (along w/ Lockett among others)

It's just part of the 2nd phase of the interdisciplinary science project.

Which phase is the carpet bombing of everything north of the original Raising Canes?
That’s actually the most important phase by orders of magnitude

A lot of progress. Looks amazing. A lot of redevelopment

Great work George! They have done a nice job of revamping the eye sores that were previously on campus. One question, is it possible and are there any plans to remove the awful chemical plant south of Tiger Stadium?
