When is the last time somebody got that number and had a good year

Foster Moreau (2018) - 4th rd pick
K’Lavon Chaisson (2019) - 1st rd pick, 1st team all SEC
Lloyd Cushenberry III (2019) - 3rd rd pick, 1st team all SEC
Chris Curry (2020) - BUST?
Damone Clark (2020-21) - 5th rd pick, 1st team all SEC, 2nd team All-American
BJ Ojulari (2022) - 2nd rd pick, 1st team all SEC
Mekhi Wingo (2023) - 6th rd pick, 2nd team all SEC, 3rd team All-American
Greg Penn (2024)
Josh Williams (2024)

Penn/Williams not great NFL prospects, but were 2 of our best players last year. Penn 2nd most tackles on the team & Williams 2nd most rushing yards behind Durham.

Garrett Nussmier would be a great option for 18 if he wants it.

How about just keep his 13, be original and create his own legacy? Burrow 9, Jayden 5 and Nuss 13.

When you think of the NBA jersey 23, do you think of the original Space Jam and Jordan or do you think of Space Jam 2 with the Jordan wannabe LeBitch Blames?

It’s much better to create your own legacy than to have this fairly new forced “tradition” removing it from you. The studs of the team should always turn down that shite. If you have to keep that crap, give it to the ones with leadership, but don’t have the ability to create his own legacy.

It’s dumb. Always was to be honest. But in 2025, it’s even more so. Just retire the damn jersey so no one gets it.

Les Miles to NFL execs and scouts “he’s our 18”. Oh ok

Such whiny little bitches around here. "Who cares!?!?!" *Grrr* *Grunt*

The guys on the team care. They want those numbers. Recruits want to put on the #7 on visits.

5, 9 and 20 haven’t been worn.

Jerry Stovall and Tommy Casanova have their jerseys retired in the stadium, but they’re still active numbers. My opinion is this, numbers shouldn’t be retired unless you win something to extent of both Heisman and a championship. You can hang signage in the stadium or build a statue. Just dont want it becoming a Yankees type situation where half your single digits aren’t usable.

Nuss deserves 18. Heisman Season, and more importantly National Title.

Would be great and I’d say ‘even possible’.

Hold your horses though:

He’ll need a line, the ability to run & stretch for first downs and a few lucky bounces.

We’ll need: Perk to get back to being aggressive and the cancer gone from the defense.

No in 2023 it was Josh Williams and Mekhi Wingo.

Bramblet, the punter, wore 19.

NUSS will not accept 18, he wants to leave his legacy with 13. It will be retired along 5, 9, & 20.

IMHO; West Weeks gets 18 on D and Chris Hilton gets it on O

Punter is a good choice. Maybe we can break the curse on that number change, and the punter can actually punt as well as the rest of the nation.

My take is IF we continue the honor of awarding 18. It should actually mean something.

Only give the honor if it’s deserved. Maybe award it every 4 or 5 years.

It shouldn’t be a “well we have to give it to someone” award.

If it’s earned and it’s a no doubt who on the team has earned it-yes give it. If not, no.

NUSS just said in an interview with Mascona that he would be honored to wear the #18 if offered to him.
