Unpopular Opinion? The offense LSU is implementing will be a cause for more INT/Turnovers

Just curious. I don’t have an answer for this and I made this thread for football conversation in the dead of summer.

We know that Brady is OC in-waiting. Probably the worst kept secret around the football program.

With that said, we have an idea that he’s implementing his offense this year so to make the transition in 2020 smoother and easier for the offense.

This offense will be quick routes. Little to no drop backs for the Qb before getting the ball out of his hands. Just being the devils advocate and for the sake of conversation, does this type of offense set you up for more turnovers due to interceptions and DBs jumping on routes?

Who does it depend on more? Accurate and excellent WRs doing their job? An QB with an accurate arm? Or a solid running game to make sure that the DBs are playing the RBs as well?

What say you?

Were not abandoning the deep passing game completely. I think it’s more adding more short and intermediate routes and sending more receivers out.

Well, we know that LSU will be running the Saints offense (via Coach O and Jeaux Brady, as you mentioned). Last year in that offense Drew Brees threw 32 TDs to 5 INTs. So... nah, I ain't worried about an increase in INTs.

Impossible. Brady is the greatest thing to happen to LSU since Saban. No room for error.

11-1. No excuses.

Statistically, yes. Each time you throw the ball, there is a chance that it is intercepted. So by increasing the number of times you throw the ball, you also increase the chances that you throw an interception.

Drew Brees won’t exactly be running this offense.

Maybe a few more but not necessarily a significant amount more

It also hopefully will yield a lot more TDs.

Ultimately Int aren’t good and you want to limit them but you can’t be scared to throw the ball because of Int.

I compared It to baseball. Power hitting is more important than not striking out of Batting average. Obviously there is a tipping point but you sacrifice a chance at a strikeout to have a better chance at scoring.

That being said some similar offense have yielded very efficient QBs.

Baker Mayfield at Ou has 4 int
Lawrence has 4 at Clemson (more passes than Burrow)
McSorley has 8 and 10 at Penn state. More but not like he has 18. Butnhes an example of a good not amazing QB doing pretty well.

Watch out you get killed on here if you dare say something bad about the new offense

I didn’t say anything bad about the offense. I’m actually looking forward to it. (As long as we don’t play Troy, of course)

I dont Think it will inherently lead to more Int.

If anything it may lead to less and it involves hopefully more Pitch and catch throws, throws to players in space, swings screens and plays like that.

More plays = more opportunity for mistakes.

More plays = more opportunity to score.

It’s about execution. If we execute it’s good. If not it’s bad.

LSU's should resemble the Saint's and Buckeye's scatter chart.

65% passes under 5 yards. 80% under 10 yards. Some intermediate, and 3 or 4 long bombs per game to keep the safeties from cheating.

Really don't see an INT problem. Short passes to multiple spread-out WRs should be less risky than longer passes to a couple obvious targets.
