Southwest Louisiana Junior College at Lafayette is the only appropriate name.

There's no difference between Southwest Louisiana JC at Lafayette and Northeast Louisiana Junior College at Monroe and Northwest Louisiana Junior College at Natchitoches and Southeast Louisiana Junior College at Hammond and McNeese State Junior College at Lake Charles and Nicholls State Junior College at Thibodaux.

They're ALL fricking Junior Colleges with University name tags.


LSU, Tulane, Louisiana Tech, Grambling and Southern should be he only FOUR YEAR COLLEGS in Louisiana.

There's way too many TWO YEAR pigs feeding at the FOUR YEAR trough in Louisiana...........

I have zero insecurity around what other schools name themselves or even how their fan bases perceive themselves.

They're not supposed to. When the UL system was formed, they all agreed that none of the member universities would use the name "University of Louisiana" other than with their city name after it. Then ULL went to ESPN and cut some horseshite deal where their sports teams would use the term "Louisiana". It's a bastardized way of pretending they have some equal flagship rights when they technically have no higher standing in the UL system than any other school in it.

ULM, Southeastern, Nicholls, UNO... they all have the ability to fight it but for whatever bitch arse reason, they're afraid to do it.

Every state seems to have both a "_____ State University" and an equal "University of _____" and ULL has illegally taken the moniker an run with it. They technically have no right.

I dont know why anyone here really cares. ULL is in their own lane doing their own thing. If they continue to grow and become better a academic/athletic institution, good for them, and its good for the state overall.

We always referred to USL as the "University of Slow Learners"

They had gold in this name if they had enough foresight to use it fifty years ago. They could have carved out a unique identity separate from the flagship, like Auburn and Clemson. But they were too busy shaming and punishing their schoolchildren for speaking cajun French in school and running away from their own heritage.
