I'd bet my Trump check that every one of those is locally HQ'd and/or owned by local franchises.

Those are all owned and operated by locals

What is your issue?

Nice list! When vacationing my family and I always eat at the local places to get a taste for their cultural cuisine. Nothing beats Taco Bell in Mexico or Pizza Hut in Italy.

That's the biggest misconception with the "help local businesses" crowd. Well those chains, don't import their employees from other places. Those people are local too.
Not as cut and dry as people make it seem.

Well the tweet says local business and our partners.

Any one of them you have a complaint about not being local is likely just a partner for UGA athletics in some way

So the franchise owner isn’t local? The workers aren’t local?

Local franchisee is (most likely) local

Managers are locals

Employees at every level are locals

They are staying open and working during this time, and those people are still relying on the same paychecks as the other "local" restaurants.

The general public are simpletons, and "outrage" like this proves it.

Those businesses pay them for the partnership, not surprising they want something out of it now. Don't be stunned if LSU is sending out something similar.

The bigger travesty is that the Athens food scene is fire and none of those places got a shout out lol

Be that as it may, that's not what people think of when they say support local.

My man that owns 26 Mcdonalds does not fit my definition of a "local" enterprise. I'm going to support restaurants that are Boise specific and owned by people that don't have vacation homes across the country.

The BBQ place that had to reduce half of it's workforce and is barely scraping by because they can only offer curbside pickup and delivery now? Yeah, they will get my support over the McDonald's franchisee. Sorry.

Exactly. Franchises are fricking expensive operations to run.

I don't see why these should not be supported.

I don't think anyone has a problem with someone supporting these restaurants. Just don't pretend that the man that runs the LLC that owns 20+ franchises is "local." That guy is shitting money and runs a franchise that can almost operate itself on name. I've seen Mcdonalds locations last in the shittiest locations with the shittiest customer service for years.

The guy that owns the single or two location burger joint is local. Or the woman that owns a wine bar that can no longer open for the evenings and has to hope people opt in for local pick up and delivery and try to keep their staff employed.

The person that owns a chick fil a or a mcdonalds gets no sympathy from me in these times.

I actually live in Athens and several of us are like "really" what about our local eateries in and around town like our great restaurants downtown or in Five Points or other locally owned places in Oconee County.

Kind of silly for them to only list corporations. Zaxbys is based here so that makes sense. But yeh bad list.

Its just kinda stupid to make an effort to keep subway in business. If it closes, it will just reopen whenever the economy gets better. The mom and pop sub shop may never reopen.

Everything else equal about employees, managers, owners, it's still a pretty ridiculous thing to dare to post on social media.
