I think LSU wins. I think LSU is a very good team this year. Nevertheless its a bit bothersome that they get a week jump on the old cliche about most improvement after week 1.

Question for those if you who have played or coached at a higher level: does their post-game review of hawaii tape (and focus on hawaii in week leading up to game) possibly make them do two things while LSU can maybe focus on one? Similarly, LSU will have 2021 ucla team film but not vice versa.

Maybe its all a wash?

It's a huge advantage for them. Even the best teams usually look far inferior their first game to their actual abilities.

The biggest improvements in college football are always Game 1 to Game 2. Especially now that they've started scaling back pre season practices.

I’d take a warm up game 100 times out of 100 but first game or not- as long as Max doesn’t go down we better beat UCLA.

If he drops that one then O’s seat immediately gets warm

How bad would it suck if UCLA loses to Hawaii?

heres our advantage...we can lose to them and still win a natty. UCLA loses to us and they're pretty much as good as eliminated

UCLA could get 10 warm up games, at the end of the day its talent vs talent, and we have the advantage at every position.

This wont be close. 41-17

The plus to the game before is to knock off the rust since it had been so long since the last game speed action.

However, LSU also gets a week of 2021 film on UCLA.

The advantage for them is obviously getting the first game in. Teams usually improve week 1 to week 2.

The advantages for us are we will have film on them, whereas they won't have any on us with two new coordinators.

This is true but the way LSU does their “preseason” games as best vs. best they are probably getting a better idea of game speed of D1 football than they would playing some directional university.

We will get to see em play live before our game, which means I hope Hawaii makes them show their hands for the following week, at least we can study more

We may have some communication kinks to workout since we have two new coordinators. Hopefully they don't have any issues getting the plays in in time

They get a warm up game and we don’t. Typically that gives them a chance to correct first game mistakes like stupid penalties but overall it’s not that big of a deal. They gotta focus on 2 game plans if they plan on looking ahead to us.
